You have several good points, but the thing that you have to keep in mind is that Harry is a vampire. he isn't going to react the same way as he would've if he were still human. Draco is his mate, and they are both still in the process of bonding, so he is going to be sensitive to comments made about Draco. Hermione actually insulted both of them even before Harry said anything, so that's why his and Draco's reactions were so asshole-like. He isn't thinking about anything outside of his mate bond right now because the two of them are still in an adjusting to everything. I agree that Harry was thoughtless here, to a certain extent, but so was Hermione. She should've known better than to insult something that was so important to Harry's survival as his relationship to his mate. That she did that was the reason he acted as he did. Both of them were obviously in the wrong here, and Harry's attitude will be addressed at some point. I don't see him as being an ass permanently, but he's blinkered right now because everything about being a vampire is new to him. Not to mention the fact that he dies to save everyone, so he feels he has the right to be selfish, at least to a certain degree. In any case, I'm grateful that you took the time to read and comment on this.
