Summary:  Millicent knows Hermione’s ideal date.

“You look beautiful, Hermione. A person always does when they’re in their element. But why did you agree to come with me? I know you don’t like me.”

Hermione blushed as she looked at Millicent, feeling the hair stand up on the back of her neck.

“My ideal date to go to is a book store. Books—they don’t judge. Not like people. And you don’t talk about Quidditch every other breath. The last time I was out with Ron, we met up with Harry, and the two of them spent hours debating over whether or not the Plumpton Pass was a legal quidditch move or not. I was nearly bored to tears, and Ron never even noticed. I’ve never had someone offer to take me book shopping before, so I thought I’d take a chance.”

“I’m glad you did. You intrigue me. You’re a Muggleborn, but you know more magic than most purebloods.  I like that. Nothing seems to intimidate you, and you aren’t superstitious like many people in the magical world can be. I find that refreshing.”

“Millicent, I’m never going to stop blushing at this rate. You think far too highly of me.”

“I’d say I think just highly enough. Have you finished browsing, or would you like to stay longer?”

“I could spend hours in here just looking, but I’m sure you must be bored with me,” Hermione offered, unconsciously biting her lip.

“Oh, hardly. I could spend hours watching you. I’ve never seen anyone so enthralled. I hope, if I may be so bold, that I can make you feel that way in future.”

“It’s—rather warm in here, isn’t it? Shall we go back to Hogwarts and get some pumpkin juice from the kitchens? I’d like to visit the house-elves.”

“Pumpkin juice sounds wonderful. I’m sorry if I’ve embarrassed you."

“I’m just not used to someone being so straightforward about what they want. Ron took ages to ask me out at all, and then it just never quite worked.”

“I’m happy you came with me. I’d be happy to take you book shopping again.”

“I’d like that.”

“Hermione, may I kiss you?”

“I’d like that as well.”
