Summary: Draco has bad memories of the holidays, but he knows just how Harry can cheer him up.

Cheering Up

“Potter, have you seen my scarf?”

“Uhm…no?”

“Don’t tell me you put it on the snowman again this year?”

“Well you weren’t using it. And you know any good snowman has to have a scarf.”

“That’s all well and fine, Harry, but what am I to do? It’s bloody cold out there and now I’ve no scarf!”

“Watch it, Scrooge. If you get any more upset, smoke might start coming out your ears. You’re a wizard. Can’t you just conjure a scarf?”

“They aren’t nearly as warm as handmade ones when they’re conjured. And I’m not a Scrooge.”

“Yes you are, but I love you in spite of that. You didn’t even want to help me put up a Christmas tree. You’ve never helped me decorate.”

“I like the decorations well enough once you’ve put them up though, don’t I?”

“You’ve always seemed to, yes.”

“If you must know, I had a traumatic experience when I was young. I just haven’t felt the same about decorating for Christmas since, and I don’t think I’ve ever quite got over it.”

“Draco, what happened?”

“I got yelled at for breaking an ornament that was a family heirloom. It was an accident, and father did apologise for yelling afterward, but I couldn’t ever bring myself to decorate a tree again. I was too afraid I’d break some other priceless thing.”

“That’s such a sad story, love.”

“Don’t cry, Harry. I’d rather see your eyes sparkling with lust than tears. It was a long time ago, and it’s over. Father and I forgave each other for the past, but after that, I don’t know, some of what made Christmas special just seemed to fade. I have tried to get into the spirit of things again, but I just can’t seem to manage it.”

“That makes me really sad, Draco. I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t be. You can help cheer me up, right?”

“However you’d like, love.”

“Make love to me beneath the Christmas tree tonight.”

“Weren’t we supposed to have dinner with your parents tonight?”

“I’d rather spend the night with you. Bring in the holiday together.”

“I admit that I do like the sound of that. There are still a few bare spots on the tree, though. Would you like to hang a few ornaments?”

“I don’t think so, Harry. I’d rather unwrap my favouriite holiday gift.”

“And just what might that be, pray tell?”

“You, Harry. Just you.”

Thank you so much! I'm happy you liked this. At least Draco has Harry to help cheer him up.
