hogwarts365 Prompt 208- “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.”― Maya Angelou; Muggle Photography; Visitation
Notes: Sequel to Heroes and Villains, so read that first. I have no idea how this story came out of these prompts, but here you have it. This seems to be turning into a series-type thing. I hope readers like it.
Summary: Draco and Ron head to St. Mungo’s in the aftermath of his curse.
Draco sat in St. Mungo’s waiting room, drumming his fingers nervously against his thighs. He was so lost in thought that he startled when the Welcome Witch spoke.
“Mr. Malfoy, you may go in now. Mr. Weasley is asking for you. Normal hours of visitation are from 4 to 6.”
“How much longer will he need to stay here? I gave him a Healing Potion shortly after the hex occurred, and he had no adverse reaction to it.”
“He made us aware of that, sir, but it is standard procedure to keep Aurors who’ve been hexed overnight for observation and monitoring, just to be cautious.”
“So he’s fine, then? Thank Merlin!”
“He is fine, but he’s also on rather strong pain potions just now, so be aware he may be a bit disorientated when you see him.”
“Thank you. I’ll see him now.”
Draco made his way to the Spell Damage floor, snorting with amusement as he heard Weasley singing off-key.
“Am I interrupting your concert? They said you asked for me.”
“Malfoy! Fuck, you scared me! Try not sneaking up on a bloke next time, yeah?”
“You seemed rather occupied with your vocal pursuits, so it’s no wonder you didn’t hear me come in.”
“Do you know you’re pretty? You look like one of those models in Muggle photography classes. Or like an angel.”
“Weasley, exactly how much pain potion did they give you? You are aware we hated one another all through school, yes?”
“I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better. You saved my life with those potions, Malfoy.”
“Your life wouldn’t have needed saving if you hadn’t saved mine first. Like you said, that’s just what partners do, isn’t it?”
“Is that all we are, Malfoy? Just Auror partners?”
“Would you like to be something else, Weasley?”
“I think we already are, but neither of us has the bollocks to admit it. We’re too scared.”
“I’m not.”
“Prove it.”
“How?”
“Come to dinner at the Burrow with me on Sunday.”
“If you come to the manor.”
“You’re on, Malfoy.”
“Gods, what are we doing?”
“I dunno, but I like it. Don’t you?”
