hogwarts365 Prompt 206- “The duty of youth is to challenge corruption.”; Ankle; Pain; Pervasive
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction created for fun and no profit has been made.
Notes: Ron/Draco took over my brain and my fingers for this one. I hope readers enjoy this random little thing.
Summary: Ron gets the worst of a curse during an Auror mission.
“Ow! Shit! Bloody fucking hell! That hurts, you sadistic arsehole!”
“Weasley, what in Merlin’s name do you expect it to feel like when you get hit with a pervasive Broken Bone curse?! You’re just lucky I happen to have a Healing Potion in my rucksack, aren’t you? If you are nice to me and apologise, I just might let you have it.”
“You really are a bastard, aren’t you Malfoy?”
“I believe my father might take issue with that particular insult, as I am most assuredly his offspring.”
“Malfoy! The potion, please? Don’t make me beg.”
“But you beg so nicely, Weasley. I rather like it. I know having the potion reset your bones is painful, but it is necessary. The potion is fast-acting. It hurts like hell, but it’s very effective.”
“I’m sorry for calling you a sadistic arsehole, then. Now, may I please have the Healing Potion? My ankle is still in pain.”
“All right, then. You may. But answer one question for me: why in the name of bloody Merlin would you step in front of a curse like that for me?”
“We’re partners. And I knew you’d know what to do to heal me. I wouldn’t have had a clue. You’re better with Potions than I am. I wouldn’t have made it through Auror training without your help. This way, we both made it out.”
“That…actually makes sense, I suppose. But Weasley, if you risk yourself in such a manner again, I’ll kill you myself without thinking twice.”
“No you won’t. You’re just mad at me for scaring you.”
“Damn right I’m mad! You scared ten years off my life when you stepped between Dolohov and me.”
“I couldn’t let him get you, and we captured him in the end, didn’t we?”
“We’ve still got to take him in. Merlin knows why I subject myself to this torture every day.”
“It’s the duty of youth to challenge corruption, isn’t it? Besides, you like playing hero when you were raised to be a villain. It’s your way of rebelling against how you were raised.”
“I didn’t realise you’d put so much thought into this.”
“When it’s about you, I can’t help it.”
