hogwarts365 Prompt #200-“99 percent of all statistics only tell 49 percent of the story.”― Ron DeLegge II, Gents with No Cents; Arithmancy; Educational Decree Number Twenty-three
Notes: Follows Dirty Minds and Goblin Meetings. Just a short something inspired by the prompts.
Summary: Harry is still distracted by thoughts of Draco.
“Harry! Would you quit daydreaming about Draco’s arse and focus on the meeting? Don’t make me hit you with a Stinging Hex again. I will do it.”
“For Merlin’s sake, Hermione! You’re worse than Umbridge after she passed Educational Degree Number Twenty-three.”
“I am not, and you know it. How could you even compare me to that cow?”
“Okay, you aren’t quite as bad as she was. I’m just out of sorts today.”
“Harry, this isn’t like school. The goblins know when you aren’t paying attention to them, and I don’t want them angry with us.”
“This isn’t an Arithmancy lesson. We are meeting with the goblins to discuss bolstering security at Gringott’s, and they wanted me here because they know I broke in and escaped.”
“Right you are, Mr. Potter. But it would still behoove you to pay attention, wouldn’t it?” Hermione hissed.
“99 percent of all statistics only tell 49 percent of the story. We want greater security here to ensure that history doesn’t repeat itself,” Repnuk croaked, interrupting their whispered conversation.
“We are quite willing to provide extra security, Repnuk, though we have no reason to believe that further deterrents are necessary. The ones already in place are stringent enough.”
“He was able to break in!” the old goblin croaked.
“You know very well that we had help doing that, and the one who helped us is dead. The goblins of Gringotts played their part in saving us all. It is over and done, and nothing like that will happen again. This meeting is pointless!” Harry barked.
“Not pointless, Potter. You had no ill intent, but other thieves are not so noble as yourself. Extra security is needed."
“Which we have already said that we will provide. I’ll even set a special Auror team on it, but why must we keep delving into what happened?”
“Goblin memories are long, Potter. Surely you realise that.”
“Yes, I do. I have worked hard to make sure that relations between the goblins and my Aurors remain cordial."
“You will put a team here?”
“Yes.”
“Very well, then. Meeting over.”
“Merlin, I need a drink. I hope Draco doesn’t hog all the wine tonight.”
