Summary: Harry and Draco discuss what constitutes proper behavior.
Proper
Harry smiled as he heard Draco humming under his breath. “What is that you’re humming, Draco?”
“Sing Me A Song.”
“Would you?”
“Would I what?”
“Sing me a song?”
“I don’t like to sing in public, Harry. You know that.”
“Our car is public?”
“Public enough.”
“You have a wonderful voice, Draco. You should sing more often.”
“Father always said it wasn’t proper for a Malfoy to sing.”
“I recall him also saying it was improper for a Malfoy to drive, but you do that often enough.”
“Only for practical reasons, Harry. We live in a Muggle neighbourhood, do we not?”
“Yes, we do. Which your father also considers improper. I’d say any lingering concerns for propriety have flown out of the car window, my love. Especially considering the fact that we’re driving to the park to plant trees for Earth day. We could’ve just used magic to Apparate there and saved the petrol.”
“Yes, and given several Muggles heart attacks in the process, Harry. That most certainly would be the height in improper behaviour.”
“You’ve a fair point there.”
“I’m aware of that. Muggles are strange creatures, Harry.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Wizards honour the Earth and bless it every day. Muggles only do it one day out of the year, and some not even then. It’s just strange to me.”
“Not all wizards and witches honour the Earth, either, Draco. Voldemort certainly didn’t.”
“Yes, well, that only proves that my intelligence was superior when I chose to join your side, does it not?”
“What was your father’s stance on the improper nature of bragging, I wonder?”
“He says it is improper to brag, unless one has sufficient cause to do so. Which I do.”
“I should’ve realised that Lucius Malfoy would have a rule for every situation.”
“You should’ve realised as well that I follow my own rules, Harry.”
“Then sing me a song.”
“I’ll sing for you if you agree to try out that fantasy I told you last week.”
“Draco! That’s blackmail!”
“No, it’s called being a proper Slytherin in order to get what you want.”
“I should learn never to argue with Slytherins.”
“You should. We always win, Harry.”
