bleedingangel84: (gay marriage=happy?)

Gay marriage is not a punch line. It is not a joke, it is not comical. It's nothing to be laughed at. It is just as real and just as valid as any heterosexual marriage ever was, and I find it disappointing that my grandmother finds the idea of gay marriage comical. I find it hurtful and disgusting that ANYONE could have that attitude, but even more so when it's someone I love as I love my grandmother. Because yes, I do love her, despite the fact that her opinions on some things sicken me and make me want to disappear from existence. I can disagree all I want, but her opinion won't change, because "homosexuality is against the Bible". So is eating shrimp, but she sure as hell does that. Grr. One thing I can can be grateful for is that I don't believe that narrow-minded bullshit. How am I related to these people? How?

Anyway, end of rant. I'm going to go read something slashy and make myself feel better. Love is love, no matter who it's between. I wish everyone could see that. The world would be a better place.

We love them, but we don't have to like them. At least... that is how I feel about my relatives. I am so different from most of my immediate family that I am convinced that I was switched at the hospital. Either that or I am a Changeling being punished for something.

It's okay, I put that in there because it is laughable. The Bible does say things against eating shrimp and shellfish, but to her, that's okay, whereas being gay is not in her eyes. It's ludicrous to me, but that's how she thinks about it.

I'm thankful for the support, and thankfully I'm having a somewhat better day today.

well - that is family for you - and the bible is a good book to read when you want fairytales - because it was the book with the guy who was almost 100 and had kids with his 80 year old wife - Rachel - ring a bell ;) it is not written in stone. I believe in a higher power I do but my kind of god loves all of his creation - gay - hetero - trans -a-sexual you name it - he loves us. (he even loves bigots ) maybe that is what she needs to teach you - patience while faced with illogical behaviour? Have a hug!!!
