I'm aware of both of those things. Several places my dad used to live had shag carpeting, and he talked about it sometimes. He was also an enormous flirt who liked a girl with a shag haircut when he was growing up. Most of the time when you hear shag here, though, people are talking about dancing. It's quite popular around where I live. It just struck me as funny right then, because when I heard it, my brain substituted the sexual meaning. That's when you know you've read too much slash! Lol! I wonder sometimes if I wasn't born in the wrong decade. I get called old-fashioned fairly often because I prefer things that most people consider obsolete or outdated. my uncle told me the other day that I'm starting to look like a "pot-smoking hippie" because my hair is getting so long. I took it as a compliment. :)
