Notes: This is most definitely not my usual pairing. I do apologize if it is complete and utter crap, but this is my first time attempting a Ron/Draco story. Inspired by my_thestral and praevarus. Thanks to them both for inspiring this. It was really fun to write, and I hope that neither of you hate me too much, but if you do, blame the prompts because this is the direction they took in my brain. Not beta'ed, so feel free to pick this one apart.

Summary: Ron and Draco have an odd way of displaying interest in each other.

Temptation

“How did you ever get out of that?”

“The idea came to me in a dream. All my good ideas came when I was dreaming.”

“I still can’t believe you had to bargain with Igor Karkaroff for information. That was excellent strategy, Malfoy.”

“I had to get out of Malfoy Manor, and Karkaroff owed me for saving his miserable hide during a raid.”

“It must’ve been hard to leave your home, Malfoy.”

“Easy or hard doesn’t matter when there isn’t a choice. You do what you have to and hope for better days to come. “

“It was a brave thing to do.”

“It wasn’t brave. I was terrified the entire time. I didn’t stop shaking until I got to Grimmauld Place. I was so grateful to your parents for taking me in, especially when they had their own brood to consider.”

“You know, you’re not so bad when you act like a human being, Malfoy.”

“My father must be turning over in his grave by now. A Weasley complimenting Malfoy. Who would’ve thought it?”

“Yes, well, don’t let it go to your head, right? But, credit where credit is due, I say."

“Why Weasley, if you get any more complimentary, I’m going to blush.”

“Why do you think I said it? I just love seeing you squirm. You are quite the beauty when you blush, you know that?”

“Stop it. I thought we were past all that.”

“Stop what? What did I do?”

“Stop making fun of me. I thought we were trying to get along, but if you’re just going to ruin my efforts, then I’ll leave.”

“Malfoy…Draco—would you wait a minute? I’ve never been good at this sort of thing. I wasn’t trying to make fun of you. I do think you’re beautiful.”

“I’m not a female, Weasley.”

“Thank Merlin for that! But you are still beautiful.”

“I am masculinely graceful, not beautiful.”

“Oh, fine. Have it your way.”

“I always do.”

“You are still an infuriating, insufferable git.”

“What can I say, Weasley? It’s part of my charm.”

“Why don’t you shut that pretty mouth of yours? It’d be an improvement.”

“Shut it for me.”

“Don’t tempt me.”

“Give in.”

Oh, it's a Ron/Draco!! :D *blinks happily at the screen in disbelief*
My favourite!! :D *still grinning madly like a Cheshire cat*
And they're very sweet together! Ron is a bit of a blunt fool, like always and Draco is his haughty, kind of smug self. Love them! And they love/like each other!

I am so glad you like this! The idea just took shape as I was writing and would not let my fingers go until it was done. I wasn't sure I could pull it off, but I'm glad it worked for you. I will probably write more with these two at some point. I honestly never thought I'd write this pairing, but somehow in this it seems to make sense.

*happily applauds* I'm so glad you can see the appeal! I basically only write those two (with a bit of H/R on the side, for me it's all about Ron) and I just can't get tired of their fire-ice potential. They are just such a contrast in many ways - and they also have similarities, unlike almost no other: they're both pureblood and they never lived outside of the magical world, they're both very proud and they both have a terrible temper - Ron a more vulcanic one and Draco more "dry-ice-burn" one.
I'm so glad you're willing to do more, I'm seriously looking forward to it! :)

I do see the appeal, especially after writing this. You make good points about their similarities and differences. I've always seen the two of them as a bit of a powder keg, but I think a lot of that heat could translate to passion. Harry/Draco is still my favourite, but it's nice to read or write something different every so often. It keeps things from getting stale. *hugs back* I would definitely like to write more.
