Summary: Draco tries to give Ron Narcissa’s gift.

The Blue Box

“It’s a gift, Weasley. It won’t bite.”

“Why would you bring me a gift? Trying to poison me?”

“You have real trust issues, don’t you Weasley?”

“I have issues with trusting you, Malfoy.”

“If it will set your mind any more at ease, my mother seems quite an advocate of yours. The gift was her idea. I don’t even know what it is.”

“Bloody hell! How do I know it isn’t a bomb?”

“If it were, my flesh would be a pile of burning ashes. Things like that don’t survive apparitions.”

“Oh, I feel so much better now.”

“Sarcasm doesn’t suit you, Weasley. Knowing my mother, it’s likely this is Veritaserum or some such tool of truth-telling. She wants us to trust one another.”

“Why?”

“She undoubtedly hopes that we will confess our undying devotion, have enough children to rival your mother’s brood, get married, and breed like rabbits. Not necessarily in that order, of course.”

“Your mother is hoping we’ll get married? Did You-Know-Who give her brain damage?”

“My mother is quite an intelligent witch, I will have you know. But perhaps the Dark Lord did do some lasting damage. She seems to think you’re quite fit.”

“I…don’t know what to say. At least one Malfoy has good taste. But, she’s old enough to be my mum. That’s just not on.”

“Much as I hate to agree with you, the thought of my mother fancying you does rather turn my stomach.”

“I’m not that awful to look, at am I?”

“I was speaking in terms of the age difference. It’s disconcerting for me to think my mother might fancy one of my year-mates. I meant no insult.”

“Oh.”

“Eloquent as ever.”

“Shut it. Let’s have the gift, then.”

“You’d trust something from my mother?”

“She saved Harry’s life. If whatever is in here makes working with you bearable, then I say we try it.”

“You are nothing if not a Gryffindor.”

“That almost sounded admiring.”

“Well, part of being a Slytherin is knowing when to concede.”

“What?”

“I’m tired of fighting with you.”

“Who’re you and what’ve you done with Malfoy?”

“Very funny. You don’t look half bad when you aren’t scowling .”

“Likewise.”

And we still don't know what's in a box! :D Well, if it's something that "helps them get along better", the next chapter should be post-coital, hih! :D *blushes happily*
Never underestimate a lady that tricked the Dark Lord, those two sorry crushers don't stand a chance! :)
But I think they're slowly making progress - here and there one can catch a very undercover "I like you" under all that antagonizing words! :)
I like this series a lot, their funny dialogue and constant bickering always makes me smile, more so, cause I usually read it in the morning and it's great to start a day with something fun!

Hang in there. They will eventually get to post-coital at some point, hopefully in the near future. I'm happy you're sticking with the series. It's going slower than I had intended, but those boys are stubborn. Thanks so much for reading and supporting my R/D plot bunnies. They've been really well-fed recently. lol :)
