Truth
“Veritaserum? Your mum sent you with Veritaserum?”
“She seems to think we’re in denial of our emotions.”
“So does everyone else. Snape said as much the last time I saw him. He threatened to turn me into a caterpillar if we fought again.”
“Mum seems to think we need this in order to open up to each other. I have a sudden urge to throw the phial across the room and run.”
“Scared, Malfoy? Give it to me, then. I’ll go first. You have to take it, too. No tricks, yeah? Wizards’ honour?”
“Fine. Get on with it, then.”
Draco nearly smiled as Ron grimaced at the foul taste of the potion.
“Bloody hell, are you sure that was Veritaserum? If this potion gives me stripes, I’ll kill you.”
“Don’t blame me, blame my mother.”
“I can’t hex a woman. She was only trying to help me get along with you. Your turn, Malfoy.”
Draco felt a stinging burn as the drops of potion hit his tongue. He was no longer inclined to laugh as the potion made its slow way down his throat.
“Ask me something. We need to test the effects of the potion.”
“What did the imposter-Moody turn you into in fourth year?”
“A ferret,” Draco spat with a stung pout. “Why did you have to bring that up?”
“It was the quickest way to make sure the potion works.”
“It was humiliating.”
“I thought you looked rather cute as a ferret. You were so scared.”
“You think I look cute when I’m scared?”
“It makes a pleasant change from your constant sneering. You’re actually handsome when you smile.”
“You’re mental, Weasley. And your hair drives me crazy.”
“My hair?”
“It’s red. You always come in looking like you’ve just been shagged. It makes me want to set you to rights so that I can muss you up myself. I want you, but I can’t stand you because I can’t have you.”
“Merlin’s tits, what was in that potion?”
“I beg you, stun me before I say anything else,” Draco felt a fiery blush travel up his neck.
“You’re adorable when you blush.”
“Just kill me now.”
“I’d much rather kiss you.”
