Kitty Has Claws

“Potter! Have you seen the paper today?”

“I make it a point never to read The Daily Prophet. The articles they publish are more preposterous than Luna’s theories about the Crumple- Horned Snorkack. How they can get away with calling what they print news, I’ve no idea.”

“So you didn’t get back together with Ginevra?”

“I didn’t what?”

“There’s an article in there claiming that you’ve started seeing her again. Pansy wouldn’t stop gloating over it this morning.”

“I’m not with Ginny. You of all people should know that, Draco. Where’s that cool Malfoy poise you’re so famous for?”

“It flies out the window faster than a snitch where you’re concerned. Always has. They were making predictions on what you’d name your children, for Merlin’s sake! I saw red. And there was a picture. You were kissing her. Care to explain that one before I hex your testicles off, lover?”

“We were playing Truth or Dare at a party. Seamus dared me to kiss her, and I did. That’s all. I will kill Colin Creevey. I’d bet anything he took that photo.”

“You kissed her.”

“Yes, I did. It didn’t mean anything, Draco. It was like kissing my sister. If I had a sister.”

“I hate to think you’d kiss your sister the same way you were kissing Ginevra.”

“Slytherin’s don’t have the monopoly on bad behavior, you realise.”

“You are in trouble, Potter.”

“What will you do to me, Malfoy?”

Draco spoke slowly after an uncomfortably long pause.

“Tell your friends about us, or that’s it. I’m done. I don’t want to hide anymore, and I don’t want you to have to either.”

“Draco, what if everyone hates me? What if they can’t accept us?”

“Well then, at least we’ll have each other.”

“How is it that you have a response for every occasion?”

“Native talent, I suppose.”

“I’ll tell my friends.”

“Good. I’ll make it worth your while if you do.”

“Really? How?”

“I’ll indulge your every whim. Feed you breakfast in bed. Fuck you until you can’t speak anything but my name. How does that sound?”

“Brilliant. Are you going to have my babies as well?”

“So long as our son is not called Albus Severus.”

“Albus Severus? That’s…interesting. But, no. I don’t think I could do that to a child of mine. Unless, maybe we call him Al?”

“Clearly, I need to gag you before you continue this train wreck of a thought.”

“Where did you get that name anyway?”

“It was a prediction in the paper.”

“People are very odd sometimes.”

“You are odd. But, I love you. And it’s time your friends knew about it.”

I agree. They’ll have to know when we get married.”

“You want to get married?”

“Yes.”

“Have children?”

“Eventually.”

“Get a pet?”

“A dog, maybe.”

“I’d rather a cat.”

“We’ll have both.”

“Cats and dogs don’t get along, Harry.”

“Neither do Slytherins and Gryffindors, but here we are.”

“Fair point. Fine. You win. We can have both.”

“You are too good to me.”

“I know.”

“I’d like a kitten, I think.”

“We’ll go to the Magical Menagerie and pick one later. They have a shelter for strays in the back.”

“You’d like to adopt a cat?”

“What can I say?”

“The Slytherin Prince is really a softie.”

“Tell anyone that, and I will hex your testicles off.”

“Mee-ow...kitty has claws.”

“Shut up, Scar-head.”
