Discoveries
“Are you ready to go? They gave me your discharge papers.”
“Why do you have my discharge papers?”
“Your wound will need care, yes? And I’m the saviour of the magical world. I wouldn’t be living up to my title if I left you to languish on your leather sofa alone, now would I?”
“Fie on your title. I don’t want to be a burden to you.”
“Severus Snape, you are a stubborn old bat who is entirely too self-sacrificing.”
“I’m aware. How did you know I have a leather sofa?”
“You actually do? I only hoped. I love the feel of a leather sofa.”
“I quite enjoy it myself. I like to sit on it and read. Sometimes, on fine days, I open the window while a cool breeze blows through the house.”
“That sounds so peaceful.”
“It can be. I love reading. Finding one’s self in a book is a second birth.”
“I never knew you were so philosophical. I like that.”
“I thought you were more interested in Quidditch, Potter.”
“Yes, well, there’s no rule against wanting to broaden my horizons, is there?”
“No. However, it does surprise me.”
“Pleasantly, I hope?”
“Quite.”
“I’m pleased. Shall we go? I do believe you promised me a meal.”
“I did. Someone must see to it that you’re fed properly. One can’t live off of sausages and treacle tart.”
“Of course not. Nor can one survive indefinitely on black coffee and fried eggs.”
“Clearly, we’ve spent a fair amount of time watching one another eat. I’m not sure whether to be pleased or appalled, given our past interactions.”
“The past doesn’t matter anymore, but that doesn’t mean I’ll forget the things I saw.”
“Nor will I, but perhaps we can move on and learn from it together?”
“I’d like that. I also like pasta. There’s an Italian restaurant not far from here. I think it’s time we had that dinner.”
“For once, Potter, I completely agree.”
“Harry.”
“What?”
“My name is Harry.”
“Let’s go to dinner, Harry. Low glucose levels do nothing to improve my temperament.”
“So, all these years you had a nutrition problem? That explains so much.”
“I ought to spank you.”
“Promise?”
