Better Than Detention

“’You have pasta sauce on your chin, Potter.”

Harry blushed in adorable mortification before wiping off the offending sauce with his serviette.

“Did anyone else see? The Prophet photographers love to snap pictures of me in embarrassing circumstances. Rita Skeeter and her lot lived to torment me before the third task in the Triwizard Tournament.”

“I seem to remember some tripe about a love triangle between yourself, Krum, and Granger. Absolute madness, that.”

“The public lapped it up. Just like the articles about Lockheart. He always told me, ‘Celebrity is as celebrity does, Potter.’ The man was an absolute nutter.”

“Quite. He was more of a thorn in my side than you were in second year, and that is saying something.”

“I should feel insulted by that, I suppose, but that was so long ago, it feels like a different lifetime.”

“Circumstances have a way of changing people.”

“I’ve noticed that.”

“Have I changed?”

“You are sitting here with me, eating pasta, and we are having a somewhat civil conversation. If that doesn’t indicate a change of personality, I’ve no idea what would.”

“I’d have given you a detention for that at school, you realise.”

“I know.” Harry’s smile was mischievous and somehow seductive all at once.

“I do believe you rather enjoy provoking me—Harry.”

“Oh, yes. I do find it rather enjoyable. But, since I am no longer a student, I hope the outcome is something better than detention. You mentioned something about a spanking earlier.”

“You would like that?”

“I’m quite intrigued by the prospect.”

“I would’ve thought you’d want to be the dominant one, being Harry Potter.”

“Not at all. I’d much rather be an equal partner in any relationship I happen to be in.”

“You are truly nothing like James Potter in personality.”

“I will take that as a compliment, coming from you.”

“You should.”

“Could I persuade you to come back to mine for a drink?”

“Where do you live, Harry?”

“The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black.”

“Would you not rather come back to mine? I have some things I think you might be interested in.”

“You have quite a bit I’d be interested in seeing, Severus.”
