Fabulous Ideas

Harry was startled from his nap as his heard his floo flare to life.

“Potter, is it okay if I come through? I can’t be at the manor right now,” Draco said, sounding harassed

“Come ahead, Malfoy. You’re welcome any time,” Harry offered easily.

“I could kiss you, Potter. Thank you.”

The look of profound relief on Draco’s face made Harry smile gently in amusement.

“What’s wrong, Malfoy? Being chased by a rabid Hippogriff?” Harry teased.

“Don’t be daft. We don’t keep Hippogriffs at the manor, do we?”

“Well, what then? You came through looking like hounds were after you.”

“Father wants to marry me off, that’s what! To some silly little slip of a pure-blood witch I barely know. We fought over it. So here I am.”

“Why did you come to me?” Harry wondered curiously.

“It was either stay home or leave before I get disowned. You’re my partner. I had no idea where else to go.”

“We are partners, yet still refer to one another by surname. Why?”

“Old habit, I suppose. You’ve always been Potter.”

“And you’ve always been Malfoy. But I think we’ve reached a level beyond that, don’t you? If we hadn’t you wouldn’t have come through my floo.”

‘You are quite right, Harry.” Draco smiled, making something warm stir in Harry’s chest.

“It’s a miracle! Draco Malfoy said I was right.”

“Do shut up. Gloating doesn’t suit you, Chosen One.”

“Now you shut up. You know I hate that name.”

“I just like to get your dander up, Harry dear.”

“I know a way to shut you up,” Harry mused, “I think I’ll take that kiss now.”

“That’s a fabulous idea.”
