Pleading Cousins
“You sound like a spoiled brat, Scorpius.”
“Oh, and you’re as knowledgeable and wise as that old nag Firenze are you?” Scorpius countered.
‘I’m begging you, Scor. Please, just go find someone else. I know you must have loads of people just wild to date a fit bloke who’s been drafted to play professional quidditch,” Teddy pleaded raggedly.
“None of those people would know me as well as you do. And none of them make me feel like my heart is going to beat out of my chest every time I see them.”
“Scorpius, this…attraction, isn’t healthy for you. I couldn’t trust myself to keep you safe if we were to…”
“Ted, you need to learn to have more faith in yourself.”
“And you need to be around friends your own age. Maybe if you were, this wouldn’t be an issue between us.”
“I have friends my own age, Ted. I don’t go out of my way to make friends, that’s all. It just leads to disappointment. Most people only want what they can get from me. But you were never like that. It’s not in your nature.”
“How can you say that when you know what I am?”
“Because I know you, Ted Lupin. You have the most sanguine temperament of anyone I’ve ever met, and you were sorted into Hufflepuff. Being attracted to me does not suddenly make you evil. And being a werewolf only makes you more attractive.”
“You always did want to do the most dangerous stunts first.”
“Stop trying to distract me. You won’t win this one.”
“That’s enough!” Teddy growled warningly.
“I’ll say when it’s enough! I’m a part of this too, Ted, and it’s my heart you’re breaking when you deny yourself like this!” Scorpius hissed.
“You don’t know what you’re asking of me!”
“I’m asking you to follow your heart. If you want me and I want you, what the fuck else matters? Or is it that you truly don’t want me?”
“I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anyone, Scor. I’m just afraid I’ll hurt you.”
“I’m not afraid. And I happen to like pain.”
Out of arguments, Teddy could feel his resolve begin crumbling.
