Chapter 1: The Kiss

Colin Creevey was ever so grateful that he had the lens of his camera to hide behind. His first year at Hogwarts was well underway, and he spent most of his free time snapping pictures of anything that stood still long enough. If he were honest with himself, he’d have to admit that his favorite subject to photograph remained in almost constant motion. What had started as an innocent case of hero worship had quickly evolved into something much bigger.

Colin sighed longingly and focused his camera lens on Harry Potter once again, silently bemoaning the unmistakable taint of irritation that crossed the boy’s features. He had been enamored of the raven-haired youth almost from the moment he stepped into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. How could he not be, surrounded as he was with tales of the older Gryffindor’s bravery in the face of Voldemort? He was caught somewhere between envy and awe every time he contemplated Hogwarts’ resident protector.

Harry was everything he could have ever wished for in one that he loved: kind, caring, smart, and courageous, as well as any number of adjectives he could have employed to sing Harry’s praises continually. Not to mention the fact that the boy was so bloody gorgeous as to be the man of anyone’s dreams, be they male or female. Colin had lost track of the number of times he’d awoken in his dormitory, covered in perspiration and dreaming of jade green eyes that made his heart flutter into the region of his throat and become trapped there. And those lips. Oh, dear, sweet Merlin, those lips. They should be declared illegal, so Colin thought

They were too perfect to be real. Full, pink and soft, making him wish for things he had no business knowing about at his tender age. It was all he could do to keep from groaning with longing when Harry’s eyes flicked over to him, taking him in and dismissing him again a heartbeat later. It was so unfair. He knew Harry would never see him as anything but an annoying little pest, and the knowledge of that fact galled him to no end. He wished he could one day mean as much to Harry as Harry did to him, though he thought that was so far into the realms of impossibility that not even magic would be able to accomplish it.

It was hopeless. He should just give up now, while he at least had some of his dignity intact. Snorting with disgust at his own bleak thoughts, Colin reflected that perhaps the Sorting Hart should have placed him in Hufflepuff after all, as it had initially been inclined to do. The extent to which he mooned over Harry was becoming something a bit more than ridiculous. He was even beginning to irritate himself, which, he reflected, was just not on. He may not have been the strongest Gryffindor, nor the wisest or bravest, but he was still a Gryffindor. He needed to show a bit of pride in his house as well as himself.

Screwing up his courage, he made a decision. He was going to do it. He was going to kiss Harry Potter, once and for all. Even if it earned him a hex, he knew it would be more than worth it. After all, it was only a kiss. Striding across the Great Hall, Colin used his bulky camera to pin Harry’s body to the wall, being careful not to hurt the object of his affection. Standing on tiptoe, Colin planted a kiss on the older boy’s mouth that left him speechless and panting. Looking at him with a slightly bemused expression, Harry finally gave a crooked half-smile. “Erm…Colin, what was that?” he asked. Dropping his camera heedlessly, the younger boy twined his hands around Harry’s neck before answering. “Oh, I’d say that was me tapping into my Gryffindor courage,” Colin answered teasingly. Not giving him a chance to say another word, Colin brought Harry’s lips toward his for an even deeper kiss.
