Notes: Just a random thing inspired by the prompts this week and a recent re-reading of the Cursed Child Script. I hope readers enjoy.

Summary: Draco consoles Harry in the way only he can.

“Why are you looking like a kneazle ate your canary, Potter?”

“I dunno. Depressed, I guess.”

“So I gathered from your downtrodden expression. The question is why. You’re Harry-bloody-Potter. The world loves you, and you proved yourself stronger than an evil Dark Lord when you were just only 17 years old. You have so much to be thankful for that it makes me sick.”

“I know that. Are you trying to cheer me up, or make me feel guilty?”

“To be a rainbow in someone's cloud is commendable, but I prefer to be the rain because it dampens cheeks and washes away tears.”

“You know, you are quite possibly the barmiest human being I’ve ever met, Draco,” Harry said with a small smile.

“Some people are made for slaying dragons and some people are made for trading barbs. We were apparently made to annoy each other.”

“How did I annoy you this time? I’m almost afraid to ask.”

“You are avoiding my question: why are you depressed?”

“Ginny left me. She said she couldn’t handle staying married to me after what almost happened with the kids.”

“Well, I certainly did not see that coming.”

“Oh, you haven’t heard anything yet, Draco. She’s writing a memoir about what it was like to be the wife of the wizarding world’s hero. Whizz Hard Books is planning to publish it next year. Just in time for the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts.”

“Holy Merlin! How did you find out?”

“Albus overheard his mum talking about it. She was finalizing the terms of the book deal when he came down to get a snack one evening.”

“That boy looks like a Potter, but he has a Weasley appetite.”

“That he does. It isn’t going to work, Draco.”

“What won’t?”

“Distracting me. It’s no good. I’ll spend the rest of my days alone.”

“What if I bought you dinner? Would that help? It’d take your mind off things at the very least.”

“Would that include drinks?”

“Could do. I’ve always enjoyed a good wine. And maybe that’ll cheer you up a bit, since I seem to be a spectacular failure.”

“You’re on. And Draco? Thanks. You aren’t a failure.”
