hogwarts365 Prompt 246- "It must be so tough for him, with all the... girls and the glory." - Merlin, from BBC Merlin, Document, Abridgment
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction created for fun and no profit has been made.
Notes: Just something short and sweet inspired by the prompts this week. Hope readers enjoy.
Summary: Draco learns something interesting on a visit to Pansy’s office.
“Mr Carlisle refused to publish the article unless I agree to an abridgement of the text. But if he wants me to do that, he can just kiss my porcelain arse!”
“Draco! You’re terrible. Keep your voice down, would you?”
“Pansy, honestly, you’ve changed. “
“I know, and thank Merlin for that, or else I wouldn’t have this job. Potter is a wonderful boss, but he works too hard.”
“Oh he does, does he? It must be so tough for him, with all the girls and the glory.”
“You are in a strop today, aren’t you? What’s the matter?”
“Nothing. It’s just that I worked hard on these documents, and then he refuses to publish. It’s just galling. And I know it’s only because my name is Malfoy.”
“And what should I make of the comment about Harry?”
“Oh, so Potter is Harry now?”
“He was always Harry, Draco.”
“Well isn’t that just cosy?”
“You’re jealous, aren’t you?”
“Jealous of what, pray tell?”
“Of the fact that I’m on speaking terms with Harry. You like him, don’t you?”
“I do not like him! For Merlin’s sake, what are you, a firstie?”
“Do you want to try looking in the mirror when you say that, Draco? You’re the one acting like a child. But you are my best friend, so I’ll tell you.”
“Tell me what?”
“I happen to know that Harry is open to dating men as well as women.”
“How do you know that?”
“I’m an office secretary, Draco. I hear all sorts of gossip.”
“How do I know you’re telling the truth? You might be lying to me to get me back for something.”
“Would I do that, Draco?”
“You have done such things before.”
“I wouldn’t lie to you about this. And I happen to know that Harry is interested in you.”
“What? How? When did this happen? What do I do?!”
“For Merlin’s sake, Draco! You’re coming over all Hufflepuff all of a sudden.”
“Pansy, you ought to know better.”
“Gods, you are such a drama queen!"
“I am not a queen, you cow!”
“You are, but I love you anyway.”
“Thank you.”
“Are you going to meet him?”
“I might.”
