Summary: Harry and Draco run into one another when Hogwarts hosts a Parents’ Day.
“Potter? I didn’t expect to see you here.”
“Malfoy? What are you doing here?”
“Scorpius asked me to come, and I couldn’t think of any graceful way to refuse, so here I am.”
“Are you hiding out as well? School reunions are not my idea of fun.”
“It’s Parents’ Day, Potter.”
“It may as well be a school reunion, though. Is there even one adult out there that we weren’t in class with at some point?”
“Now that I consider it, you do have a point. So why are you here if you hate it so much?” Draco asked quizzically.
“I couldn’t refuse my kids, either. Especially Albus.”
“So why are you here? I should think you’d want to avoid the Astronomy Tower, given everything that happened here.”
“I could say the same things about you.”
“I didn’t want to let it control me anymore. I felt it was time I control the memories instead of them controlling me.”
“That’s admirable. Drifting through life can be its own form of hell. That’s how I ended up with Ginny.”
“I suppose divorcing her was you steering your own course?”
“It was a start. The next part of that would be asking you to go to the pub for a drink with me.”
“I suppose there are worse things I could agree to. Just get me out of her before Lovegood starts droning on about the economic impact of Wrackspurts on international banking.”
“Luna is definitely one of a kind.”
“So are you.”
“Was that a compliment, Malfoy? Be still my heart.”
“Don’t let it go to your head.”
“I’ll do my best not to,” Harry promised, fighting the urge to grin.
“Shall we go, or was there someone else you wanted to say goodbye to first?”
“I can talk to Ron and Hermione tomorrow, so no. Don’t you need to say goodbye to Scorpius?”
“He’s probably lurking about somewhere with your little hellion.”
“I’d say that’s a safe bet. They’re almost never apart.”
“You aren’t going to yell at me for calling Albus a hellion?”
“How can I? I’ve done the same thing.”
“I bet they’re off snogging someplace.”
“Merlin, now I really need that drink.”
