Summary: Ron and Draco break the news to Molly.

“It won’t be so bad, Draco. At least it’s sunny out today. That’s my favourite weather. Maybe we can talk my brothers into playing some quidditch.”

“That’s assuming they don’t kill me first.”

“It’s not like you to admit defeat so easily. Come on. We’ll be fine. Just turn on that Malfoy charm you’re so famous for, and my mum will love you.”

“I hope you’re right, Ronald.”

“I am right. Now come on. Don’t make me drag you in there kicking and screaming.”

“I would hardly do that. It isn’t dignified.”

“See? You’ll be fine. Mum? Where are you?”

“Is that you, Ron? I’m in the kitchen. But you’re early.”

“I have something to tell you, Mum. And you might not like it.”

“Oh? What is it? You aren’t ill are you?”

“No, Mum.”

“Hermione’s not pregnant, is she?”

“No, it has nothing to do with Hermione. I’m married. To Draco. We eloped.”

“Did you really have to break the news that way, Ronald? I do believe we’ve put your poor mum into shock. Not that I blame her.”

“I—don’t know what to say. I had no idea you were even interested in men. You always seemed besotted with Hermione.”

“Yes, well. Things have changed.”

“I can see that. I thought Draco was meant to wed Astoria Greengrass.”

“I was, Mrs. Weasley. But I found myself rather more taken with your son. He challenges me in a way no woman ever has.”

“Now that I can believe. Are you happy, Ron?”

“Very. I get Draco and his beautiful hair all to myself for the rest of my life.”

“And Draco? You’ll need an heir won’t you?”

“We were thinking of adopting. The war left behind many orphans who will need good homes.”

“That’s a lovely thought. And what do your parents think of all this?”

“We wanted to tell you first, Mum. Are you angry?”

“No. I’m just…rather surprised. But if you’re happy, that’s the most important thing. You are both adults capable of making your own choices.”

“Merlin, that’s a relief.”

“But if you spring such news on me again, I can make your sister’s Bat Bogey hex look like child’s play.”
