Summary: Harry has the perfect dessert for his picnic date with Draco.
“Do you have everything you need for the picnic?”
“Yes, Mum I am more than capable of packing a picnic hamper myself.”
“There’s no need to be sarcastic, Harry. I was just asking.”
“I know, Hermione. Sorry. I’m just nervous. What if Malfoy hates the date?”
“He won’t, because he likes you."
“How do you know?”
“One thousand galleons, Harry.”
“It was for charity. And I’m sure he’s probably counting it as a tax deduction.”
“Must you be so cynical?”
“I can’t help it. I’m just afraid to get my hopes up.”
“Harry, you are absolutely one of the most sought-after wizards in our world. Malfoy likes you. The date will go well, I know it.”
“Is that everything on your ‘Cheer Harry Up’ to-do list?”
“Oh, shut up. Before you know it, you two will be feeding each other lollies and snogging.”
“Is that supposed to be a euphemism for something inappropriate?”
“Get your mind out of the gutter, Harry.”
“Actually, there’s no need for that. I quite like his mind where it is, thank you. Hello, Potter. Granger.”
“Malfoy! I thought we were meant to meet at the park.”
“Tell that to my mum. She insisted I meet you at your home. I wouldn’t have barged in, but the door was open. You need better security, Potter.”
“Hermione had just come over to check that I had everything ready for our date.”
“And do you? I quite like lollies, if you didn’t know.”
“I’m aware. I always used to see you eating them at Hogwarts.”
“I’m quite flattered that you paid that much attention back then.”
“If you two get any cuter, I’m going to go into a sugar coma.”
“Hermione, I love you, but I can take it from here.”
“Okay, I’m off. Are you sure you don’t need any help?”
“I think we’ve got it covered. I packed some of those strawberries and crème lollies you like, Malfoy. The twins told me they were your favorites. “
“They are. The twins made Halloween-themed ones this month. I can’t wait to try them. Maybe we should feed each other dessert before we have lunch? I would hate to disappoint Granger, after all. She does have the best ideas. Besides, I don’t want her hitting me again.”
“She knows better. Besides, if she tries, I’ll protect you.”
“Potter, you’re my hero.”
“Shall we go on this picnic? It’s a beautiful day.”
“You’re right there. It’s a perfect time to embrace new beginnings.”
“Does that mean you’d want to go out with me again?”
“Any day, any time, any place.”
“Let’s go.”
