dove_drabbles Prompt 128-Don’t let the moment pass. Indulge. JMDC 220-fading fast
Notes: Forgive me if this isn’t up to par, but I needed to write some slash right now. Today has been very hard and emotional. And painful. I wasn’t certain how this would turn out, but I like it. Written as an antidote to my own religiously-motivated homophobic relatives. I very much hope readers enjoy this.
Summary: Harry is questioning many things, but Draco (and Ginny) know who he is.
“Do you think I’m evil?”
“What?”
“It’s a simple enough question: Do you think I’m evil?”
“You are many things, Harry James Potter, but evil is most definitely not among them. I know evil. You are not it. Where is this coming from?”
“I grew up hearing that it’s wrong to be gay. The number or times my uncle said it was an abomination. It—left a bit of a scar, I think. I always wanted to be good and do right, but I can’t change how I feel, no matter how hard I tried to. I even married Ginny, but she was more a friend than a great love, really. We’re much happier apart.”
“Thank Merlin for that. Wasn’t it Ginevra who convinced you to give me a chance?”
“She did. She said if I could forgive her after she was possessed by Voldemort, I ought to be able to forgive you, too. She said I’d always been obsessed with you, and that I’d regret it if I let another moment pass without indulging my curiosity.”
“Curiosity about what?”
“You. You fascinated me. And I could never stop wondering what your mouth tasted like. It was driving me mad, even though I felt horribly guilty.”
“Oh, sod your uncle and his outdated beliefs. Caring for another person is never a bad thing.”
“I was still married at the time.”
“And she was encouraging you to do what made you happy. I’m just grateful she didn’t hit me with a Bat Bogey hex. She was lethal with those at Hogwarts.”
“She still is. She said if you hurt me, you’ll have bat shaped bogeys for a month.”
“Merlin forbid. Any desire I had to hurt you started fading fast once you kissed me.”
“Good to know.”
“Feel free to tell Ginevra to stand down.”
“You’re no fun.”
“You love me.”
“As you wish.”
