Hello! I'm back on LJ after four days away. My family has, as usual driven me nuts with homophobic bullshit. Thank goodness not everyone believes as they do. I'm going to go read something to cheer myself up before I end up taking my frustration out on myself in ways I shouldn't. Hope everyone is well! I missed you all.

Question of the Day: How in the hell is Ellen DeGeneres wearing a tux in the Oscars promos "flaunting being gay"? Last I heard, clothing had little relation to sexual orientation. I've known straight women that have done the same thing. Wearing a tux is hardly indecent, but from the way my grandmother reacts to that promo, you'd think Ellen was fucking Portia de Rossi in public or something. I really wonder about people sometimes.

My cousin wore a tux to her senior prom. She is now happily married (to a guy!), and the mother of two adorable little boys.

Ask your grandmother how many times Milton Berle strutted his stuff on stage WEARING A DRESS.

I know girls that have done exactly the same thing, and they never looked at anyone but guys. My grandmother just thinks it's disgusting that Ellen is gay, so if she does anything even slightly out of my grandmother's zone of "normal", it gets a derogatory comment. She wouldn't have said anything if it were a straight person doing the same thing. There is no logic in her thought process when it comes to things like this. It makes me sad and pissed off, but she's nearly 76 and really entrenched in her ways. Trying to get her to think differently is like arguing with a brick wall. She's homophobic because she claims homosexual relationships aren't natural or biblical. It's her loss, really. I pity her being so closed-minded.
