Lament on favorite authors leaving fandom

I understand that people grow out of fandom, or have  grown away from it, and I completely respect that. I have much admiration for any author that puts themselves out there the way fandom authors do. I truly do understand the need to just leave something behind sometimes. But, it makes me absurdly depressed when my favorite authors delete their stories. Maybe it's just because I have a very limited life, but I cannot help feeling a little emptier when that happens. I'd at least like the opportunity to save some of my favorites, if they do decide to vanish completely. I've now become paranoid about saving fics, especially recently, because it seems like many of my favorites are disappearing with no trace, never to be seen again. Now that I've thoroughly depressed myself, I will shut up and attempt to claw my way out of this deep, trench-like funk.
