Title: Behind the Scenes
Author: bleedingangel84
Beta: None
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: What could be construed as Ginny-bashing, references to sex
Word Count: 365
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction created for fun and no profit has been made.
Written for: hogwarts365 Prompt #36-“The caterpillar does all the work, but the butterfly gets all the publicity.”; Pomona Sprout; Soul
Notes: This is not betaed. Any errors should be brought to my attention for correction, if you please. I have no idea where this little thing came from. As to why or how Ginny knows about Superman, she is Arthur Weasley’s daughter. It seems logical to me that she’d have come across knowledge of such iconic Muggle characters at some point in her upbringing, especially with her multitude of brothers. And yes, in this fic, Pansy owns the newspaper and is married to Theodore Nott. I’m not sure why, but she insisted on being included here. A little AU.
Summary: There is drama behind the scenes at The Daily Prophet.
Behind the Scenes
“It’s not fair, Harry!”
“What’s not fair, Ginny?”
“This! You’re playing Jimmy Olsen to Malfoy’s Clark Kent. The caterpillar does all the work, but the butterfly gets all the publicity.”
“I never wanted the publicity in the first place, Ginny. Malfoy is welcome to it. In any case, he’s much too blond to make a convincing Superman.”
“You deserve to be doing more than this.”
“Did you ever stop to think that this is what I want to be doing?”
Why, Harry?”
“It pays well. If I’m taking pictures for The Daily Prophet, I have a better chance that they won’t print the same tripe about me that they used to.”
“You could’ve become an Auror. We could’ve got married. Had babies. You always did want a family.”
“I still do. But that’s not a good enough reason to get married, Ginny. You know that.”
“You’ve sold your soul to the devil, Harry. For what?”
“I’d hardly equate becoming a photographer with selling my soul, Ginerva Weasley. And if I have, it’s no concern of yours. We’re not engaged anymore.”
“I bet he put you under some sort of potion, didn’t he? He was always crafty that way.”
“I’m not under any potion, Ginny. You are the one spouting nonsense.”
“It’s not nonsense!”
“It is. You’d better leave. I don’t want to have to have you thrown out of here by force.”
“You wouldn’t dare!”
“Potter! Is Miss Weasley making trouble?”
“It’s just a personal dispute, Mrs. Nott. No need to bring out heavy artillery as yet. Ginny was just leaving.”
“Good. I have an assignment for you. Pomona Sprout’s greenhouses have been tampered with. We’ll need pictures. Go. Tell Draco to stop preening and get writing. He can play fashion model on his own time.”
“Pansy! You spoil all my fun.”
“You’re my most resourceful investigative reporter, Draco. I need you on this. You and Potter do great teamwork together.”
“Inside and outside the bedroom.”
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that. Now get going. And while you’re at it, remove the girl Weasley. She’s trying to steal your man.”
“I’ll make her regret that she ever heard the name Harry Potter.”
“That’s my boy.”

on 2014-05-20 01:53 am (UTC)I like the idea of Draco as a journalist and Harry as the photographer. Cute!
