I will correct them as soon as I possibly can. This is a bit random, but I hope you can enjoy it in spite of that. Set in Year 4 during the Triwizard Tournament, and prior to any unmentionable curses on Cedric. AU.

Summary: Harry wants Cedric to help him outwit Rita Skeeter. Cedric wants Harry, but will he get him?

The Plan

“Just walk beside me and be my friend. Please?”

“We’re supposed to be rivals, though.”

“In the tournament, yes. Not in life.”

“You know everyone would be shocked by it. It’d be in the papers before we blinked.”

“Everything I do is already in the papers. I’m hoping seeing the two of us being friends’d make Rita’s quill short-circuit.”

“So all this is a ploy to make Rita leave you alone?”

“No. I do want to be friends. You’re a decent bloke, and you don’t seem dazzled by my name.”

“M’not. You never asked for any of it and don’t seem keen on the attention.”

“So, friends?”

“Yes. Won’t everyone be surprised that the Hogwarts champions are supporting each other?”

“If we win, Hogwarts wins. Dunno why they’d be fussed about it, to be honest.”

“You’re famous, aren’t you? Everyone cares, don’t they?”

“Too right. They’ve nothing better to do than to nose in my affairs. Bloody sickening, that is.”

“Not certain affair was the best word to use, Harry. Rita might write another article about your sordid love triangles.”

“Hang Rita and her Quick Quotes Quill. The woman couldn’t write the truth if it bit her on the nose.”

“She’s liable to say we’re dating next.”

“We’ll be lucky she doesn’t fake a photo of us kissing. Are you certain you want to be friends?”

“Yes. I wouldn’t object to kissing you, either. That really would make the old cow’s head explode. That alone’s reason enough to do it.”

“Rita’d be so sorry she missed an actual love affair of mine that she might stop writing for good. I’d say everyone wins in that scenario.”

“Quite right. Is this official thing? Care to seal it with a kiss?”

“Shouldn’t we wait until we know Rita’s around?”

“Practice makes perfect, right? We want it to look authentic.”

“You have a point there, mate.”

“Is that a yes?”

“Would you like it to be?”

“You always answer questions with questions, don’t you?”

“Do I?”

“Yes. It’s astonishing. Are we going to kiss or not?”

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”

“I’d be breaking everyone’s’ hearts.”

“You already do. You’re handsome.”

“Stop it, Harry. You’re making me blush.”
