Summary: Hermione and Millicent play matchmaker and make a surprising match of their own.

Teamwork

“What we have here...is failure to communicate. Professor Dumbledore wishes to improve this dismal state of affairs. As such, he is requiring us to do…trust activities. Each pairing must contain one Slytherin and one Gryffindor. Please take one drop of Veritaserum each and go sit with the partners assigned to you.”

“Eurgh…I got Crabbe.”

“I got Malfoy.”

“I got Millicent Bulstrode.”

“Well, at least it wasn’t Parkinson.”

“You’re not helping, Harry. Go snog Malfoy. I know you want to.”

“I do not, Hermione!”

“Careful, Pinocchio. I see your nose growing. I ought to ask you that once you’ve taken Veritaserum.”

“You wouldn’t!”

“Have something to hide, Harry?”

“You’re positively evil, Hermione. At least you waited until Ron was out of earshot.”

“Stupid, I’m not. Now, go talk to Malfoy.”

“Yes, Mummy Dearest.”

“You know, that was on the level of Slytherin manipulation. Nice work, Granger. Those two bring new meaning to the words unresolved sexual tension.”

“Don’t they just?”

“You handled that rather neatly.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. I quite admire a girl who knows how to use her brain.”

“Millicent, you surprise me.”

“This Veritaserum is rather too effective.”

“Yes, it could be dangerous.”

“Afraid to be truthful with a Slytherin?”

“No, I’m afraid of myself and what I’ll say. I’m too vulnerable this way.”

“I’d not use it against you. Please know that.”

“I want to believe that.”

“You can. We’ve both taken Veritaserum.”

“Ask me something.”

“Have you ever thought about girls? I mean, romantically?”

“Y-Yes. No one else knows.”

“That’s good.”

“Why is that good?”

“Because I’ve thought about you. I sit behind you and always smell your hair. It smells like honey. It makes me think of indecent things.”

“That’s flattering, Millicent.”

“Millie, please. Millicent makes me sound like someone’s gran or something.”

“Millie, then. I like it. It’s softer. It suits you.”

‘Potter’s birthday is soon, isn’t it?”

“Last day of July.”

“Is he having a party?”

“Why?”

“I wondered if you were in need of a date.”

“I’d like that. Maybe you could help me get Harry and Malfoy together.”

“It would be my pleasure, Hermione.”

“I think we’d make a wonderful team.”

“In more ways than one.”
