Yeah, the title pretty much says it. The holidays always make me want to hibernate until they are over. I love my family. I honestly do. But the holidays make me glad that we get together so rarely.
Yeah, holidays are stressful (more so, when you're a parent, trust me :P), but what exactly is bothering you? Is it too stretched out? Cause here we have a one, maximum two days frenzy and the rest is pretty calm. But it's an intense time and if you're a bit of an introvert, who doesn't enjoy answering the same questions for gazillionth time, then I guess it must be stressful. Or is it something else?
It's partly that, and partly just that Christmas makes me feel lonely. I always miss my father worse on holidays, and I don't like having to go be all fake-happy because that's what everyone expects during holidays, and it all just makes me tired. Not physically, but mentally, definitely.
Oh, too bad your dad is no longer with you.:( I still have both of my parents, but I miss my grandpa sometimes, cause he was so much fun (and I'm convinced I was his favourite grand-daughter! ;)) I imagine holidays must bring it forward that he's gone - but you know what: none of us are here to stay and at least you get to know him, formed some wonderful memories and he made your life better. If we can say the same for ourselves, I'd say: mission accomplished. Perhaps it would make you feel better if you set it as a goal to make someone's Christmas better this year. Perhaps write cards to your loving-but-annoying ;) relatives why you love them (now, when they're still with you, because you never know when you don't have a chance anymore) - we don't do that nearly enough and a lot of people are left with regrets. It's easy to forget that love is the only thing you have only if you give it to someone else and not only romantic love should be considered. I think the best way for you to make it through this holiday is to make sure you make someone happy. It should be easy enough, you're a nice person.:) Good luck getting through, say this annoying know-it-all here. ;)
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on this. You gave me some great ideas, and I really do appreciate the support. You are not a know-it-all. I always appreciate your advice.
