hogwarts365 Prompt #61- “Let your sheets cool down before you bring someone else into the bed.”; Theodore Nott; Rake
Notes: As usual, no beta. Any errors? Tell me and I’ll love you forever. Random thing inspired by the prompts for this week. And honestly, could they say tentacula any more? 365 words and I feel like half of them are the same one. In any case, I hope you all enjoy this. I had fun writing it, mainly because I really dislike Zacharias in canon, and I enjoy seeing him humbled.
Summary: Neville, Theodore Nott, Zacharias Smith, and a greenhouse full of cranky Venomous Tentacula.
Tetchy Tentacula
“Hello, Nott.”
“Longbottom.”
“Did you need something?”
“Slughorn sent me in for some Venomous Tentacula.”
“You’ll want to be careful with that lot. They can be quite thorny. Let me help.”
“You’ve got quite a gentle touch with them.”
“Plenty of trial and error, that was. One stung me once. I had to beat it back with a rake. I’ve had not one problem since.”
“Clearly, sometimes it’s a good thing to assert yourself.”
“That’s quite true.”
‘Nott! Out trying to pull someone else already? Let your sheets cool down before you bring someone else into the bed.”
“Zacharias! What are you doing here?”
“I was passing and saw you trying to chat up Longbottom.”
“You’ve gone ‘round the twist, you wanker. Sod off.”
“Not until you admit you’re just trying to make me jealous.”
“Nott is right, Smith, you are mental. Seems to me you’re the jealous one. I’d almost feel sorry for you if you weren’t such an absolute tosser.”
“I wasn’t speaking to you, Longbottom.”
“Thank Merlin. I’ve known flies that were less irritating than your sorry arse. I believe Theodore asked you to leave. I suggest you do that before you upset the Tentacula. They’re quite tetchy this time of year.”
“I think I’m smart enough not to get stung by a damned plant, Longbottom.”
“You never could learn to keep your arrogant mouth shut, Zacharias. That’s why we broke up.”
“Oh, and Longbottom’s so much better?”
“There is nothing going on between us, Zach! And even if there were, it’s none of your business anymore.”
“I’m making it my business!”
“I warned you, Smith.”
“Ahhhhh! Damn! What the—what was that?!”
“Venemous Tentacula, you idiot. That’s what Nott came in here to get. “
“I suppose we’d better get him to the hospital wing.”
“We should. Pity we can’t leave him like that.”
“Say, after we drop him off, would you be interested in having dinner with me?”
“I’d like that. Don’t you need to take the Tentacula to Slughorn?”
“Would you go with me? I’d hate to get stung.”
“Of course. No need to be scared, though. I’ll protect you.”
“From the Tentacula? Or Zacharias? ”
“You tell me.”
