Written for: [livejournal.com profile] hogwarts365 Prompt # 70- “Coming Home” ; Hermione; Cooking class

Notes: I really don’t know where this came from. I don’t usually write Harry/Ron, so if it’s horrible, don’t be shy. Tell me. As usual, I have no beta.

Summary: Harry left after the war, but Ron thinks it’s time he came home.

Pleading and Promises

“When are you coming home, Harry?”

“Ron, I can’t.”

“Mate, please. Mum’s driving us all spare worrying over you. She says you look too thin and haven’t been eating enough.”

“Tell her I’m fine. I’ve enrolled in a cooking class, so I get plenty to eat. How’ve you been, Ron?”

“I’d be better if you’d come home. It’s dead lonely without you.”

“Really. I thought you and Hermione’d be so wrapped up in each other that you’d never miss me.”

“Not exactly. Turns out Hermione had her eye on someone else.”

“Who?”

“Pansy Parkinson. They work together in the Department of Mysteries at the ministry. Parkinson wanted to do more than research, it seems.”

“That’s a surprise. Are you all right?”

“It was a shock at first, but I’m over it now.”

“I’m sorry I wasn’t there. You must think I’m the world’s worst friend.”

“If I thought that, would I be begging you to bring your arse back here? I miss you, Harry. Nothing’s been the same since you left.”

“I miss you, too, Ron. But, you know I can’t come home. Too many bad memories there right now.”

“Harry, I’m here, the family’s here. You wouldn’t be alone.”

“I’ve been enough of a burden on your family over the years, Ron.”

“Harry James Potter, if I hear you say that about yourself again, I will hurt you. You are not a burden on my family. Or me. We love you.”

“I love you all, too. But, please let me try this on my own for a while, all right?”

“You, Harry Potter, are a stupid, stubborn prat.”

“I thought you loved me?”

“I do, so I get to tell you when you’re being a prat.”

“I can’t fight that reasoning, can I?”

“You can try, but you won’t win. Come home. I want to see what you’ve learned in that cooking class.”

“You just want free food.”

“I want you home. The free food is just a bonus.”

“What’s there for me? Nothing!”

“Not true. I’m here. I want to help you through this.”

“Stop looking at me like I’m the kneazle that ate your canary, and maybe I will.”

“You promise?”

“Promise.”

Oh, would you look at that! :D Talk about sweet! Harry should know better than to ever argue with a Weasley, he might as well be knocking his head against the granite wall. :) And with Ron, of all people... the one person who knows all his weaknesses! Only it's not really arguing, is it, it's "come back, I want you" and there's this undercurrent of Harry wanting to be wanted as well. :)
Lovely little piece!

I am thrilled you enjoyed this. These two just kidnapped my fingers until I wrote it. :)

I checked out your tags, cause I wanted to read your Harry/Ron, but you don't have a Harry/Ron tag (and I didn't have time to read through all your extensive work)! I hereby officially complain ;) (well, not really, you know, just nagging like an annoying fly) and hope you make a tag for at least your future works. Sorry for being a pestering old fart, never mind me if you're busy or tired. :) I hope you're doing OK, you've been a bit quiet lately.

You've actually already read all of them. I've only written about three so far, but I'll give you the links if you want to read them again. I don't mind.

There you go! And you are not a nag. I have actually been thinking about going through my fics and adding pairing tags. I just didn't know whether anyone would be interested enough to justify doing that. You just gave me the perfect excuse. Hehe! I have been doing a bit of the hermit thing lately. I'm not doing the best I've ever done, but I'm more or less okay. Homeschooling my nephew takes up a good bit of time, and by the time I'm done, my brain is speaking gibberish at me most of the time. I do have a day off on Monday though, thank goodness.

Oh, I'm glad if something good will come out of this nag-session of mine.;) I just usually browse by pairings (because there's so little of Ron/Draco or even Ron/Harry out there that I'd probably waste half of my short and precious time for reading on trying to shovel through all that Drarry, heh) and I find it very useful if their some sort of sticky post with links to fics organized by pairing or tags that allow a reader to search for a pairing of their choise. So I was being purely selfish, you see, and you're well within your rights to ignore me. :) But if you already meant to do it, then I'm glad I gave you an excuse.
Wow, I'm impressed with you home-schooling your nephew, I'm not sure I'm smart enough to teach my kids to read (the first born kind of did it himself, but the little one shows no interest :P). You go, girl! I'm sure it's tiring, but it's also in a way gratifying that someone trusts you with their child's education. :) Hugs, I wish you lots of energy!

Pairing tags added! I did it last night, so now you should be able to find things more easily. I actually feel better now that I've done it. I really have been meaning to do that for a long time. My brain feels better when things are easier to find.

As far as homeschooling my nephew goes, it's an online program, so it actually is easier than you'd think, but he's learning stuff in fifth grade that I didn't lean until much later in my schooling, so sometimes it's a bit challenging. Thank you for the well-wishes.
