Notes: I’m on a bit of a Ron/Draco kick at the moment. They are not my usual pairing to read or write, but I hope you guys like this anyway.

dove_drabbles Prompt # 28-Take yourself and a book to lunch.

Summary: Draco is working hard, and Ron is concerned.

Co-workers

“Malfoy, go home. It’s nearly eight o’clock.”

“I’ll leave when this report is done.”

“Why don’t you take some time off? Perhaps take yourself and a book to lunch?”

“Why would I do that?”

“You are working yourself too hard. I’d be remiss in my capacity as a concerned co-worker if I let you continue like this.”

“Why do you care, Weasley? You hate me.”

“We’re not children, Malfoy. We’ve been on more civil terms since the war ended, right? I don’t hate you.”

“That’s news to me. You barely say a word to me unless it relates to work.”

“What was I supposed to say?”

“What’s wrong with ‘hello’?”

“You’d have thought I was bonkers if I came up to you and said hello. We’ve never got on.”

“Which makes me wonder why you chose to speak to me now?”

“It seemed the right thing to do. You don’t look well. You work harder than anyone else in the Ministry. Even Malfoys need to relax occasionally.”

“Relax. Of course. How can I when I’m working so hard to rebuild my family name?”

“It won’t do your family name any good if you run yourself into the ground, you prat.”

“Ahh, there’s the Weasley I know and tolerate. For a second, I was beginning to think I’d entered an alternate universe.”

“You just don’t want to admit that I have a point.”

“If I say you have a point, will you shut up?”

“On one condition.”

“Oh, Merlin. What?”

“Come to dinner with me.”

“If I must.”

Whoa, I guess Ron finally found his Gryffindor courage (and, hopefully, a winning lottery ticket if he wants to make a Malfoy happy food-wise!) and ask the man he *might* fancy (oh, he so does!) out. *can hear the wedding bells chiming*
