I went to a concert. I got to see Skillet, which is one of my favorite bands in any genre. And other bands, too, but Skillet just flat-ass rocked the house! It was extremely loud and full of pyrotechnic effects. Just wow. I could've done without the preaching and various pro-life agendas, but other than that, I was glad I went. It was good to leave the house.

Skillet! :) My boys are totally into them! I have their "Awake and alive" on MP3 player in my car and they boys even made me put a Russian cover of the song on, smack me on the head with the rock if I know why, cause we don't speak a word of Russian (well, maybe a word or two, because it's a Slavic language, like our own).
So good for you to go out! I haven't been to a concert in ages, last one I saw was Slash in 2014, I think - or was it even 2013, it's honestly been ages! Isn't it great to get new experiences from time to time?! You totally deserved that and I'm glad you had a great time! :)

They sang that song at the concert, and it was amazing! This was the first concert I've ever gone to that wasn't for a music class, and it was definitely an experience.Holy...there is a Russian cover of that song? How cool! I don't speak Russian either, but I'd still be intrigued by that. I listen to songs in languages that are foreign to me fairly often. Rammstein and opera and Spanish songs especially. I'm just weird that way, but my music taste is all over the board. I'd definitely be glad to do something like that again.

There you go:

No wonder my kids like it, it's on the background of a cartoon.:P But I will confess I quite like it, it somehow has even more energy than the original and the words are familiar - it's a language I don't speak, but when they do, I vaguely understand what it's all about.
I've been to a lot of concerts in my days, mostly metal festivals in Germany, Holland and my own country, in my youth lots of Guns n'Roses and lately Apocalyptica - have you heard of them? - and, of course Rammstein - they're fantastic live and I really like them, as do my crazy-ass kids - I just like those deep male voices and German pronunciation brings and interesting quality to the songs - I have only learned German for 2 years, but enough to understand some of what they're on about. (Besides, with songs like Amour - it's pretty easy to guess ;)).
Oh, damn, how come you don't live closer, we could totally go to concerts together! :)

Ooh, thank you for the link! I like it! It has a different energy than the original song. I enjoy Guns 'N Roses quite a bit, and I actually have listened to Apocalyptica before. One of my friends told me about them a while back. Who wouldn't love a band who can do Metallica on a cello, right? It's a shame we don't live closer, but I find it's that way with a lot of my friends. Most everyone I'm friends with is on a different continent than me. Lol. :)

I'm glad you liked it, I really like the energy and the voice behind it, if I'm not careful, I'll like it better than the original soon. ;)
Apocalyptica is great live and if you have a chance - I think they're touring the US this year - go and see them, if it's possible!
It's not quite as wild as on other metal concerts (my BF came back from a mash-pit at Sepultura's concert like from the butcher's and I came home from a Gn'R concert once with foot-prints all over my butt) - but you have to hear their "Hall of the mountain king" live, you can't believe how fast those dudes can play! I actually like their own songs better than the covers, they have a lot of great collaborations with singers.
Oh, you don't have to tell me, how it is with on-line friends, not much chance of meeting any - though I'm glad Praevarus and I managed it last year and she's coming over this year again (it helps she's from a country my BF is from, so I can perhaps also visit some time). But also on-line friendship is better than none, right? :)

I really wish there was a way I get to see Apocalyptica live. That would be awesome, but I doubt I could find anyone to take me. My family thinks I ought to burn my Panic! At the Disco CDs, bso I can only imagine what they'd say about the metal that I listen to. lol I'm so grateful for my online friends. If not for everyone I've met online, I've no doubt that I'd have gone nuts by now. Most of my day-to-day social interaction is with my relatives, and even as much as I love them, I have trouble knowing how I came from their gene pool at times. My friends and fic are what keeps me sane. :)

Look, here's their tour dates, scroll down to where it says Live and you might have to click "show more", depending on where you're from. Oh, just tell your family they're cello players, who play some rock (you can always play "Path" for them, it's very gentle) and tell them you'd reeeeeeeeeeally like to see them or you'll sulk for days! ;)
I'll be here, keeping my fingers crossed that you make it. Last year I drove 300 km to see 2Cellos, which is a duo of Slovene-Croatian (same mixture as me) classically trained cello players who play covers of rock music and they're really great - so I said fuck it, I'm going, I left the grumpy BF and screaming kids behind for the evening, picked up my sister and off we went - and it was great, totally worth it. :)
I completely understand what you're saying about on-line friends - I rarely have time to meet my RL friends and I'm literally occupied with my daily activities around 16 hours every day - while they also have families and obligations - so I'd probably go bonkers long ago if it wasn't for you guys. *hugs you enthusiastically and is happy you're around*

I looked at their tour stops, and unfortunately, they aren't anywhere near enough for me to get to. :( I wish I could talk my sister into something like that, but we have pretty divergent taste in music when it comes to things like that. I'll just have to wheedle something out of my birthday, I reckon. Sometimes being an adult sucks. Online friends are the best. :) *hugs you and offers chocolate covered Ron as a playtoy*
