My older sister is sick. She was running a really high fever today, had tachycardia and high blood pressure, so she went to the doctor. They put her on two weeks of Augmentin. They aren't sure what's causing the tachycardia, but hopefully what they're doing will help some. I just want her to get better. She's my only sister, and I'd be devastated if something happened to her. Why is it that when things like this happen, they seem to pile up? First, my grandmother breaks her hip and has to get a replacement. Then, after she'd begun to recover from that, the car accident happened. All of that was bad enough in itself, and now my sister is ill. I can't help feeling like enough is enough. I hate to see my family in pain or going through illness. If I could take it away from them, I would do so in a heartbeat. I can't though, and I feel so fucking helpless.

If you are so inclined, please think good thoughts or send prayers for my family. Either of those are something I would greatly appreciate right now. Thanks.

Oh, dammit - when it rains it does pour, doesn't it?! :/ I'm sorry about your sister and I hope whatever she's got, is going to pass soon. Some conditions are age related, I know after I hit forty, I developed all kinds of back-related problems I've never had before and I guess you just have to start listening to your body a bit more carefully and make sure you keep some balance in your life.
Is your sister under a lot of stress? Because that causes all kinds of heavy shit in your life - people handle it differently, some eat more, some forget to have fun, some try to do too much. Is your sister open to conversation about her health? Because avoiding it doesn't help, she clearly has issues and it's your job as a little sister to pester her about it. ;) Just kidding, of course, but it does help to see if there are any problems outside of the direct medical conditions (which are often just symptoms of long-lasting non-medical conditions) - and perhaps that's the area you can help a bit.
Make room for a truckload of hugs, I hope she recovers soon and you'll be relieved of worrying (more than usual) yet again.

Thank you so much! My sister is a teacher, and a lot of her kids have been sick recently. Between that and everything else she has running, it's not all that surprising that she's run down and sick. Her life has been kind of a stress-fest lately, but thank goodness it is almost summer. Hopefully, I can talk her into slowing down at least a little bit. *gives you massive, squishy hugs in return*
