Always
Harry groaned. “Gods, Draco was right. Gryffindors do have far too many morals.”
“Harry, if you don’t change your mind in the morning after we’ve sobered up, then we can give this a go, yeah? I just don’t want you to regret anything in the morning.”
“Ron, for fuck’s sake, I’m not a blushing virgin! You don’t have to worry for my virtue, and I won’t break. I won’t even push you to fuck me tonight. All I want is a kiss. Preferably with tongue, but I’m not picky.”
It was Ron’s turn to groan now.
“Harry!”
“Don’t act so scandalised, Ron. You like me, I like you, and neither one of us are attached at present. What would be wrong with exploring the possibilities of something more between us?”
“You’re drunk. That’s why you want me right now.”
“Ron, they do have Sobering Potions. Get one from Draco if you’re so concerned about taking advantage of me. That would solve the problem.”
“Can’t we just go home? I need time to think about all this. I—you’re important to me. Too important to risk.”
“You were much more fun before you developed a conscience. There’s no risk involved, for Merlin’s sake. We’ve admitted we love each other. Or were you too pissed to recall that?”
“No. I just—I can’t, Harry.”
Harry growled in frustration before bellowing for Draco.
“Malfoy! Would you please?”
“Getting him drunk didn’t work?”
“No. He’s afraid I’m just coming on to him because I’m drunk.”
“You did that to me once. That was a wild night. I’m still willing, if Weasley doesn’t get his head out of his arse.”
“Draco! Must you?”
“There’s method to my madness, Harry. Weasley’s glaring daggers at me.”
“I also happen to be standing right here, you prick. I can’t believe you took advantage of Harry that way.”
“It was hardly taking advantage, Weaselbee. It was a consensual encounter between two lonely people. That’s all.”
“I thought you weren’t dating him, Harry.”
“I’m not. It was just once. We were better as friends.”
“Yes, seeing as you’re stuck on the flame-haired idiot there.”
“Oi! Would you stop? I’m right here!”
“Just kiss him yourself, Potter. If it’s meant to happen, it will. You can’t stop the future. You can’t rewind the past. The only way to learn the secret…is to press play.”
“Do they teach you to say things like that in some barkeep’s manual, Draco? You sound like a cut-rate version of Trelawney.”
“Bite your tongue, Potter! Unless you’d rather I did it for you?”
“Hey! None of that! He’s supposed to be here with me!”
“Jealous, Weasley?”
“As a matter of fact.”
“Just kiss him and stop bloody thinking so much!”
“What’s it to you, Malfoy?”
“Harry saved my life. I just want him to be happy.”
“Why are we still talking? Draco do you have the Sobering Potion?”
“Of course. But you still owe me for the absinthe.”
“Here’s ten galleons.”
“It only costs seven.”
“Keep it against future purchases, then.”
Harry swallowed the potion, looking at Ron with clear green eyes.
“Harry?”
“I’m sober. Now will you believe me when I say I love you?”
“I suppose I have to, don’t I?”
“May I kiss you now?”
Ron nodded quickly, seeming nervous, but the kiss soon grew heated . There was no hesitance on Harry’s part. Instead it was a firm, confident kiss that seemed to steal Ron’s breath and turn his limbs to melting butter until he had to cling to Harry in order to stay upright.
“Gods, that was brilliant.”
“I’d have to agree. Much better than when we were eleven. “
“Why in Merlin’s name did we wait so long to do that again?”
“I don’t know, but I’m glad I kissed you. I was beginning to think you really didn’t want me.”
“I’ve always wanted you, Harry, even when I didn’t realise.”
“About time you came to your senses, Ron. I almost gave up hope. Thank you, Draco.”
‘Don’t thank me. Just be happy it worked.”
“Malfoy? You were trying to make me jealous? Why?”
“Because you were too thick to see that Harry cares about you. I owed him. Hurt him, and I will hex you. Painfully.’
“Not a chance. Thanks, Malfoy.”
“Don’t mention it. Ever. Just take care of Harry. He deserves it.”
“I always have. I always will.”

on 2015-07-15 07:33 am (UTC)There is a god after all - my favourite ginger idiot saw the light, even though two people had to work their asses off for him to do so - and he just sits there, doubting everyone! I love the ginger man to death, but if he was mine, this death would probably come quickly, I'd be totally ready to strangle him! :D
What is the world coming to, when you have to count on Malfoy to make Weasley come to his senses, LOL! :)
Thank goodness, Harry is not a quitter and Draco was happily being his sly-self, which worked in the best of ways! :)
Thanks for a lovely story, hon - I love those little fits of (my morning) joy! :)
