Scarhead and Ferret
“Potter, for fuck’s sake, do you have a death wish?”
“To the well-organised mind, death is but the next great adventure.”
“I see someone has been listening to Dumbledore. I always said that old coot was barmy. I was right. You are just lucky the effects of the Draught of Living Death aren’t permanent.”
“I knew you’d look after me, Draco.”
“If it’s all the same to you, Scarhead, I’d really rather not have to bury my partner. You may be a Gryffindor idiot, but no one else has the patience to tolerate my unique personality the way you can.”
“I love you, too. Ferret.”
“Shut it. You shouldn’t even be talking. You need to save your strength for all the arse-chewing Shacklebolt is likely to do.”
“Kingsley loves me. I’m the best performer in the Auror corps. I’ve never failed to get my man, and I wasn’t about to start now.”
You could have died, you fool. What good are perfect numbers if you aren’t alive to enjoy them? If you weren’t so weak right now, I’d kill you myself.”
“Don’t tell me you were really worried?”
“Oh no. My partner had just swallowed a nearly-fatal potion while in the process of apprehending one of Voldemort’s worst and most notorious Death Eaters. I wasn’t the least bit worried, Potter,” Draco spat in a rush.
“I’m sorry,” Harry croaked weakly “I had to make Dolohov believe he’d won. He’d have never let his guard down enough to allow us to take him in otherwise.”
“Save it for Shacklebolt, Potter. You scared years off my life with that foolish stunt, and I’ll never forgive you for that.”
“I’ll be fine, Draco. “
“You had no way of knowing that , Harry. Do you value your life at all? Or me?” Draco’s voice and hands were both shaking, filling Harry with a sense of deep remorse.
“I’m sorry,” he repeated, “I won’t do that again. I didn’t know you’d take it so hard.”
“Don’t flatter yourself, Potter. You’re nothing special.”
“That’s what I love about you. You aren’t afraid to tell me off.”
“Someone has to keep your head deflated.”
“Would you like to go to dinner?”
