Summary: Scorpius tries to convince Teddy.

Chasing Cousins

“Ted, if we want each other, what is it that’s stopping you?” Scorpius asked.

“Scorpius, don’t waste time asking questions you already know the answers to. It isn’t becoming of a Malfoy.”

“I know I’m younger than you, Ted, but I am past the age of consent. Your conscience needn’t prick you with regard to my age.”

“Scorpius, for Merlin’s sake! I still remember casting healing spells on your scraped knees when you were eight. Can you imagine how strange it is for me to be attracted to you when I’ve seen you grow up? If I acted on what I feel, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.”

“Father always did say Hufflepuffs had an overdeveloped sense of guilt. Let’s see if we can’t assuage that.”

Scorpius rose slowly from his bed, noticing that Teddy’s eyes seemed to be tracking his movement involuntarily.

“I…should go. I just wanted to see to it that you had your potion, and now you have, so…goodbye,” Teddy whispered, voice ending on a breathless croak.

“Don’t be scared, Ted. Just let yourself off that tight rein you keep yourself under for once, please?” Scorpius implored.

“I’m not scared,” Teddy claimed. “Haven’t you been listening to a word I’ve said? It’s inappropriate for us to have any sort of relationship beyond the healthy mutual amity we’ve always had.”

“Lies don’t fit snugly into disguises. Eventually the cloak falls off and you’re left staring at the naked truth, which is always an uncomfortable situation. I’ve told you that I want you. You never denied wanting me. The only thing stopping us is your oversensitive morals.”

“That’s not the only thing stopping this. Have you forgotten my recent break-up with Victoire? Or the fact that you’ve just signed with the Falcons? Anything between us is bound to end in unqualified disaster.”

“I’ve no intention of letting this end, Ted. You mean too much to me. You always have, and you always will. I am a Malfoy, and we always get what we want. It’s part of the family code.”

“Scor, please shut up,” Teddy pleaded, backing up quickly as Scorpius advanced toward him, nearly tripping over a stepping stool.

“Make me.”

Yey, you wrote a sequel! :) Aww, poor Teddy feeling so guilty about his attraction. Lupin, life is too short to bother yourself with guilt and pass up on love! And I think Scorp seems to know that - and as a true Malfoy he doesn't look too keen on giving up.
I think he only needs as crack in Teddy's façade to put his foot - er, kiss - in, and this poor ol' Lupin is doomed! :)

Lovely job, babe - I thought it was great that your wrote some words next to a dialogue to show the readers how they looked saying those words - sometimes what they're saying doesn't reflect what's behind those words. :)

Teddy is definitely his father's son in regards to feeling guilt, but Scorpius is determined. Teddy will crack eventually. I usually don't write sequels so closely together, but these prompts just seemed to fit for it to work out that way. I have a feeling this may be a series of fics in the end.
