Notes: This week’s prompts screamed Harry/Severus at me. Apologies if this isn’t up to par, but I tried.
Summary: Harry deals with a crush on Severus while learning Legilimency
Professor
“Do it again, Potter. In a fight, your doubt is a target of enemy’s attack. You must learn to be persistent. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” Harry huffed, pushing his dripping fringe out of his stinging eyes. His scar was aching. The sight of Severus’s cramped dark office was beginning to blur, but Harry was determined.
“Very well then. Empty your mind. Legilimens!”
Harry felt disorientated. Whether it was dawn or dusk, he couldn’t tell. The only thought in his mind was to keep Severus out. He mentally shoved, visualising a thick stone wall.
“That was better, Potter. You put up quite the fight,” Severus was nearly panting, and his dark locks were disheveled.
“Yes, well, some things should be private. Wouldn’t you say so, Severus?” Harry arched his brows in a Slytherin way, proving that Legilimency wasn’t the only skill he had learnt.
“You are correct, Potter. For once. Don’t let it go to your head,” Severus advised, his voice a velvety purr that made something inside Harry melt helplessly.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Harry answered, doing his best to keep his thoughts away from what that voice was doing to him.
“Once more, Potter. Concentrate. Focus.”
Harry focused his will on slowing his breathing and calming his thoughts, feeling Severus’ dark eyes boring into him. He felt his concentration ebb as Severus gasped in shock.
“That’s…enough for today, Potter. I should not have made you go again. Exhaustion makes one’s shields harder to maintain.”
“Voldemort will come after me whether I’m exhausted or not, Severus. You know that. It’s why you’ve pushed me so hard.”
“Get some rest, H—Potter. We shall try again tomorrow, when both of us have had an opportunity to—recover.”
“Would it be so horrible for you to call me Harry? The world isn’t going to end if you use my name.”
“A certain…distance, would be advisable in this situation. Learning Legilimency creates a sense of intimacy between the enchanter and the enchanted. Even if that were not so, you’re not of age yet.”
“So I’m old enough to die, but I’m not allowed to love you? That’s stupid.”
“Potter, you don’t love me. You only think you do.”
