Summary: Ron and Draco make a deal.
“Why in Merlin’s name does it have to be him? Clearly, someone out there still hates me. The freckled idiot is clueless when it comes to potions. What am I saying? He’s clueless at nearly everything, I need to pass this year, and I won’t with him as my partner. What did I do to deserve this, and haven’t I suffered enough?!”
“Do you always talk to yourself like that when you’re upset, Malfoy?” said an amused voice behind him.
“Weasley! Gods, do not sneak up on me like that. You’ve taken nearly ten years off my life.”
“I wasn’t sneaking. I wanted to talk to you. But you were too busy talking to yourself to hear me come up.”
“I was not talking to myself, Weasley. And even if I had been, it was a private conversation, so get out.”
“Touchy, aren’t you? I think it’s cute that you talk to yourself. Don’t worry, I won’t tell. I need you to help me pass Potions after all."
“You actually want to pass Potions? I thought you hated it.”
“I don’t hate it. It’s just that some potions are so bloody complex. Why can’t they be simple? Like chess.”
“Chess is not simple, Weasley. I’ve yet to win a game against Blaise.”
“It is if you know what you’re doing, Malfoy.”
“The same can be said of potions, Weasley. They are simple enough to brew if you follow the steps correctly.”
“I’ll make you a deal, Malfoy. I’ll help you with chess if you help me get at least an E in Potions. I want to become an Auror when I graduate, and I need this Potions NEWT.”
“It would be nice to best Blaise at least once before school ends. All right. I accept. On one condition.”
“Oh Merlin. Do I want to know what?”
“When you make the Aurors, I want a picture.”
“Why, so you can gloat that I only made it because of you?” Ron grumbled.
“No. I just want to see what you look like in your uniform. You may be an idiot, but you’re fit.”

on 2016-11-22 09:37 pm (UTC)LOL, Draco's confession about Ron being fit and wanting to see him in uniform (I smell a bit of a fetish here, heh) is totally adorable, and I bet it was unexpected. I can imagine Ron just gawping at him after that sentence, not sure if he's pulling his leg! :D That's a good point to start a new Ron/Draco series, dear! Just saying... :D

on 2016-11-25 08:48 pm (UTC)Oh, another delightful drabble! Like the dialogue-only style, it's easy to imagine their faces and expressions, going by what they are saying to each other. You made them see a nice parallel between chess and potions, I'm glad they saw it as a win-win situation! I did so too. :-)
And now please write those plot bunnies hopping around in your head. I'd love to read about Ron explaining chess strategies to Draco!
