hogwarts365 Prompt 222- “Do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular.”― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart; Afterlife; Domain
Notes: Apologies to the mods and readers once again for being so horrendously late with this, but RL has been unbelievably harried recently. I hope readers enjoy this offering in spite of its tardiness.
Summary: Harry decides to take a chance and be true to himself.
“No, Hermione, I refuse.”
“Harry, for Merlin’s sake, it’s for charity, and the idea was certainly the most popular one we had.”
“Why did it have to be a bachelor auction? Every woman in the wizarding world is going to be eying me like a damn piece of prime rib, and you know it!”
“I do know it. I also know that you hate the idea, but think of all the money this will raise for the rebuilding efforts. The orphanage really does need a new roof.”
“I’ll pay for the new roof myself if you can get me out of this.”
“Harry, come on. It isn’t that horrible is it?”
“Yes, it is. I hate being pawed over. And frankly, I’m surprised you agreed to this. It degrades men.”
“Not when the men are asked to volunteer, it doesn’t. You could have refused.”
“Yeah. Then I’d have had you yelling at me for six months and looking disappointed. No thanks.”
“Maybe someone good-looking will buy you. You haven’t seen anyone since you and Ginny split up.”
“And that makes setting me up like a pawn right somehow?”
“I know you hate these events, Harry, but helping orphans is the right thing to do, isn’t it?”
“Why are you always right?”
“Being right has always been my domain, Harry.”
“Come on then. Let’s get this over with.”
“You look constipated.”
“Merlin, help me, if I’d have known coming back from the afterlife meant doing events like these, I’d have stayed put.”
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Harry ran to answer it, startled to find Draco Malfoy on the other side.
“What are you doing here?!”
“I love you, too, Harry.”
“You have to go. I told you I have a thing.”
“I know you do. Granger called. I’m going to be in the auction as well.”
“No, you will not! Pansy Parkinson is not going to get her hands anywhere near you!”
“What do you propose then? You were the one who wasn’t ready to have a public relationship.”
“I’ve changed my mind. But what will Hermione say?”
“I’d say it’s about damn time.”
“How do you always know everything!?”
