hogwarts365 Prompt 225-“Have 10 friends who believe in your dreams than 100 friends who never do. It's not about numbers; it's about purpose.”― Israelmore Ayivor, Let's Go to the Next Level, Life Lessons, Rise to the challenge
Notes: This came out as Harry/Neville. I hope readers enjoy it.
Summary: Harry offers Neville advice, and maybe something more.
Neville released a frustrated growl. “I am never going to get this, Harry! I’m hopeless.”
“You’re not hopeless. I know you can rise to the challenge. You are a Gryffindor.”
“You’re the only one who believes I can make it as an Auror. I’m absolute pants at Potions, and you know it.”
“That’s only because Snape scared you. He would’ve scared any normal person.”
“He never seemed to scare you.”
“I’ve never claimed to be a normal person though, have I? No one who had to learn life lessons from Vernon Dursley could ever be normal,” Harry said with a grimace.
“So it was true what they said? About what your Muggle relatives did to you?”
“Not quite. They were never blatantly abusive. Didn’t want to ruin their image in the neighbourhood, I reckon.”
“Harry, you know you can talk to me, right?”
“I know. You are a true friend. You’ve never liked me just because I was Harry Potter.”
“And you liked me in spite of me being Nervous Neville.”
“I liked you because you were nice to me. Even Ron and Hermione were awed by my scar at first, but you treated me like a friend. That was a nice feeling.”
“I’m glad we’re friends, Harry. I hope I can make it as an Auror. That’s what my gran wanted me to be, and I really don’t want to disappoint her.”
“You could never be a disappointment, Nev. You are amazing in Herbology. All you have to do is apply your knowledge of plants to Potions and you’ll do well enough to make it through. Potions use a lot of the plants that herbologists study.”
“I never considered that, but you’re right. Thank you, Harry.”
“I’m glad to help.”
“It means a lot to me. Not many people believe in me.”
“It’s not about numbers. It’s about purpose. As long as you have that, you can’t fail.”
“Would you like to take a break from studying and maybe go for a drink?”
“That sounds perfect. Though if I have too much, I kiss everything in sight.”
“I might like that.”
“Could I kiss you now?”
“Maybe.”
“Then I say we skip the drink.”
