Summary: Draco makes his own luck.

“Malfoy! What are you doing here?”

“I just came in to get some tea. This is a tea shop, is it not?” Draco said teasingly.

“Yes, it is. I was just wondering what you’re doing in England. I had heard your parents were in France. I just assumed you were with them.”

“Oh, I was. But circumstances have changed, so now I’m back home.”

“In the manor?”

“Is this an interrogation, Potter?”

“No. I’m merely curious is all. You and your mum both saved my life during the war. It seems a bit callous not to at least inquire how you are. I know you can’t believe everything you read in the papers.”

“My parents are at the manor, but I have a flat of my own in Hogsmeade.”

“That’s a surprise. Do you like it?”

“Shall I invite you for a tour?”

“I’d rather invite you to dinner.”

“Are you flirting?”

“That depends.”

“On what?”

“On whether you want to hex me for it.”

“If I hexed Harry Potter, the entire wizarding world would be after my bits, and you well know it.”

“Well then, isn’t that lucky for me? You can’t say no.”

“Why do you assume I’d say no?”

“Why would you say yes?”

“Potter, I don’t believe you. No one in their right mind would refuse you anything.”

“Believe it or not, Malfoy, not everyone shares your high opinion of me. There are plenty who still blame me for their losses in the war.”

“They’re idiots, then. Don’t listen to them.”

“Thanks.”

“No thanks necessary. Do you still want to have dinner with me?”

“I’d like that.”

“Can we cook at mine? It’s more private, and it has the good fortune of being unplottable. No one would see us.”

“Well, this is my lucky day. Usually, I can’t go out with anyone without it landing in the papers.”

“The amount of good luck coming your way sometimes depends on your willingness to act.”

“Meaning?”

“I didn’t come here just for tea, Potter. I was hoping to wangle an invitation out of you.”

“Well, it looks like luck had a helping hand. I like it.”

“Maybe we’ll both get lucky tonight, Potter.”
