Summary: Hermione gives Harry some dating advice.
Harry made a face as he watched his two friends feed one another.
“You two are right sickening since you’re all loved up, y’know. And Hermione, I’m quite surprised at you. Sharing food isn’t very hygienic.”
“There are spells to remedy that, Harry. What has you so sour?”
“I’m not sour. I’m just trying to hold on to my lunch. Watching my two best friends snog while I look on like a third wheel doesn’t exactly thrill me.”
“Aren’t you happy for us, Harry? Ron and I are finally together after all this time.”
“I am happy for you both. But I’m also jealous as hell. It used to be the three of us, and now it’s you two plus me. Everything’s different now you’ve paired off.”
“I’m sure you’ll find someone to settle down with, Harry. They say if you embrace optimism, you’re more likely to attract what you want in life.”
“Who says I’m ready to settle down? I just don’t want to feel like the odd man out when the three of us make plans. Especially now that the two of you are acting like a pair of comfortably married old pensioners already.”
“We do not act like pensioners, Harry!”
“Says you. Last week, you spent the evening making jam with Ron’s mum.”
“It’s Ron’s favourite. Besides, wasn’t that the same night you spent staring at Draco Malfoy’s arse while he danced with another bloke?”
“How would you know that?!”
“Ginny was at the club with Neville. He told me you were mooning over Draco, but you never asked him to dance.”
“I can’t dance for shit, Hermione. You know this. And I have no idea why my friends would spy on me.”
“We weren’t spying. We just want you to be happy. If you like Draco, pluck up the courage and talk to him.”
“Like he’d give me the time of day.”
“He might surprise you. Next time, just talk to him. Or, if all else fails, snog the stuffing out of him.”
“Maybe I will.”
