hogwarts365 Prompt 255- “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu, Obeisant, Afternoon
Notes: Just a little something for this week’s prompts. I hope readers like this.
Summary: Lucius does something Draco never thought he would.
“Draco, you’ve been consorting with Potter again, haven’t you?”
“Consorting, Father? Honestly, you sound positively medieval using that sort of language. Harry is special to me.”
“You are still a Malfoy, son.”
“Meaning you wish me to be an obeisant little bootlick and marry some nice little witch, rather than marrying the man I love. We’ve been through this conversation countless times. I will marry for love, or I will not marry. It’s simple as that.”
“You used to be so obedient. What in Merlin’s name happened to you, Draco?
“I grew up; I fell in love. Loving Harry gives me the strength to stand up to you. Knowing that he loves me just as deeply gives me the courage to defy convention in favour of personal happiness.”
“Am I to glean from such flowery speeches that you have no intention of producing an heir for the Malfoy line?”
“I said no such thing, Father. Harry and I both intend to be fathers. We are the last of our family lines, and family means a great deal to both of us.”
“And just how do you intend to circumvent the fact that you are both male, may I ask?”
“There are such things as surrogates, Father."
“And who would be willing to do that for you, knowing what you two get up to?”
“Believe it or not, Father dearest, Harry and I already have in mind who our surrogates will be, and both ladies have agreed readily enough.”
“Who, for Merlin’s sake?!”
“Pansy Parkinson and Luna Lovegood.”
“I suppose they are better than some you could have chosen. Isn’t Lovegood the one who used to be called Loony?”
“She is. A bit eccentric she may be, but she is highly intelligent. She was in Ravenclaw, if you care to recall.”
“Thank God Potter did not insist on using a Weasley.”
“Ginny did offer, but given their history, Harry said it just felt too awkward.”
“For once, Potter is actually displaying some common sense.”
“Did you just compliment Harry, Father? I must check the weather reports this afternoon and see when the flying pigs will be landing.”
“Potter has had a negative influence on you.”
