hogwarts365 Prompt 271-If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed.”― Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar, Word, Art
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction created for fun and no profit has been made.
Notes: I don’t usually write infidelity, but I’m in a bit of a dark mood at the moment, and this is what came out of my brain for these prompts. Sorry this is late being posted, but I hope readers enjoy.
Summary: Harry has been cheating, and Ginny found out.
“I can’t believe you cheated on me, Harry.”
“That’s part of the problem, Ginny. You always expect me to be this heroic figure. I’m sorry I hurt you. I never intended to fall for Draco, it just happened. I couldn’t make myself stop.”
“I don’t buy that. You have the ability to kill with a look when you get angry enough, and yet you don’t do that. You could have stopped this if you wanted to.”
“All right, then. You’re right. I didn’t want to stop. I’m not perfect. Are you happy now?”
“Why wasn’t I enough, Harry? You could’ve said the word, and I’d have given you everything.”
“Gin, please don’t do this. None of this was about you. Draco is just…a need for me. You’re perfectly wonderful, but just not what I need right now.”
“Have you always known you were gay?”
“I don’t know that I am gay, Ginny. All I know is that I love Draco.”
“And you don’t love me anymore, is that it?”
“I do love, Ginny. It’s just…changed, that’s all.”
“So where does that leave us, Harry? What am I supposed to do? You know the press will have a field day with this.”
“What do you want to do? I’ve done enough damage as it is. I don’t want to hurt you any more than I have already.”
“I expected to stay married forever.”
“I don’t expect you want that now.”
“It’s hard to stay in a marriage where you’re not wanted, Harry.”
“I’d give anything for this not to hurt you so much. It’s like cutting off my own arm. I’m so sorry.”
“Thank you for that. At least you aren’t leaving me for another woman. I don’t think I could take that as calmly. Now I know that it’s not me.”
“No, I’m the one who’s a hopeless arse. My aunt always said if you didn’t expect things from people, you’d never be disappointed. I guess she was right.”
“No one is perfect. Isn’t that what they say?”
“I have imperfection down to an art form, I think.”
“If that’s the case, then perhaps you and Draco dearest are perfect for each other.”
“Maybe.”
