hogwarts365 Prompt 278-Nonsense,Substantiated, “All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols
Notes: I’m sorry this is late. I hope readers like this little bit of Ron/Draco pre-slash.
Summary: Auror Draco is trying to coax his work partner Ron into taking a walk.
“Weasley, come with me.”
“I’m working, Malfoy.”
“No, you’re moping, and I’m utterly sick of it.”
“Well. You don’t need to watch me. I don’t need a carer, y’know.”
“That’s a load of nonsense if I ever heard it, Weaselbee.”
“Oh, fuck off why don’t you?”
“Such language. I’m surprised at you.”
“Seriously, Malfoy, just leave me be. Please.”
“Not unless you get off your arse and come for a walk with me. I was always taught that one gets their best ideas while walking.”
“You make no bloody sense, Ferret.”
“No, what doesn’t make sense is you sitting around here like someone killed your pet Kneazle just because your girlfriend dumped you.”
“She didn’t just dump me, Malfoy. She told me she was seeing Pansy Parkinson.”
“So she likes women instead of men. I always suspected that. It’s nice to have it substantiated, though.”
“Must you make every conversation about yourself?”
“It’s an old habit. Are you sure I can’t talk you into that walk? It might take your mind off things, and you really have been extremely depressed of late.”
“Thank you ever so much for that totally unnecessary reminder, Malfoy.”
“You do know that Granger leaving you isn’t your fault, don’t you?”
“That’s what she said. But if it isn’t my fault, then why do I feel likeit is? I feel like I wasn’t enough for her.”
“Well, you weren’t.”
“That’s really helpful. You were always good at kicking a man when he was down.”
“Weasel, you are entirely infuriating! I was trying to say that you weren’t enough for her, but that’s not your fault. And it’s not hers. The body wants what it wants. She didn’t choose to fall in love with Pansy.”
“How do you know that? And why are you on her side?”
“I’m not on anyone’s side. But I know Granger would never deliberately hurt you. I’m sure she still cares about you.”
“You think so?”
“She’s too hopelessly Gryffindor not to. Now will you please cheer up? It’s a beautiful day. We could walk to the Leaky and get a pint or two.”
“Or possibly six.”
“If you get sloshed, I’ll put you to bed.”
“Thanks.”
