Summary:Harry catches Draco reading a Muggle romance novel.
“Draco, what are you reading?”
“I’m doing research, Harry.”
“Oh, is that what you call it? I thought it was some tawdry romance novel.”
“What ever happened to ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, Potter? It’s a wonderful story. The hero is bargaining for his love’s hand in marriage. Her father is a parsimonious old codger, and he’s just offered a huge dowry for her.”
Harry made a disgusted face. “That sounds too much like prostitution for my taste.”
“It’s hardly prostitution, love. There’s no sex involved. He’s just paying for the right to marry her.”
“It still hardly seems right to me.”
“Well, such things have fallen somewhat out of fashion in the modern era. In times when it was commonplace, it was a way of showing a woman how much a man loved her.”
“You can’t put a price on love, Draco. It doesn’t work like that.”
“You’re so hopelessly Gryffindor, Potter.”
“What are you researching by reading that?”
“It’s an assignment for Muggle Studies class. We either had to read a romance book or watch an action film, and this seemed like the lesser of two evils to me.”
“You are so odd. There’s nothing wrong with action films.”
“I don’t quite trust Muggle technology.”
“Given who you were raised by, I can understand that. Any interesting love scenes in the book?”
“There’s a bit too much emphasis on the female anatomy for me, but it’s not bad. I was hoping to get some ideas for seducing you.”
“You don’t need to seduce me when we’re already seeing each other. I’m quite captivated by you.”
“What does it for you? My lean muscles or my tight behind?”
“I don’t know. Perhaps it’s your inherent modesty?”
“If you wanted modest, you’d be going out with a Hufflepuff.”
“You’re so bad, Malfoy.”
“You love me that way.”
“You know I do.”
“Come here. I want you on my lap.”
“You are quite comfortable. I could almost fall asleep like this.”
“One part of you seems very awake.”
“It’s your fault. You just feel too good.”
“Is that a complaint?”
“Only if you don’t do something about it.”
“I’m always up for a challenge.”
