hogwarts365 Prompt 323-Undertaking, Tension, Enjoyment
Notes: Just random romance and slight fluff.
Summary: Harry wants to marry Draco, and no one will dissuade him.
“Are you sure this isn’t too big an undertaking, Harry? Marriage is a huge step.”
“I know that, Hermione. But I love him. And he loves me. We’re willing to deal with the backlash and whatever tension it causes. This is my life, and I just want to be happy. People can either be happy for us or leave us the fuck alone. I don’t exist purely for the enjoyment of the public.”
“Well said, love,” Draco complimented, having Flooed into the room just in time to catch the end of Harry’s statement.
“This is your life, and you should be able to live it as you want, I agree. But the public won’t like you marrying a Death Eater. Even a reformed one.”
“As I said, it’s no one else’s business. All I want is a normal life with the man I love. I don’t think that’s too much to ask after all we’ve gone through, do you?”
“No. I just worry about you getting hurt. Both of you.”
“We’re not useless, Hermione. I did save the world, and Draco is a very powerful wizard in his own right, in case you’ve forgotten that.”
“You know me. Worry is how I show I care,” Hermione said with a soft smile at the pair.
“We know. Are you planning to stay for dinner?”
“I can’t. Ron and I have plans. There’s a new restaurant he wants to try, and I told him I’d go with him.”
“I love him, but that man can put away more food than anyone I’ve ever seen.”
“Growing up in a house full of children just made him appreciate being able to eat his fill, that’s all.”
“I understand that, but someone should tell him he’s not a teenager anymore,” Harry said with a grin.
“Merlin forbid. That would break his heart. Do you two want to come with us? I hear they have excellent treacle tart.”
“We would, but maybe another time. We still have some wedding details to iron out.”
“Okay then, see you later.”
“Harry? I thought we’d done with all that.”
“Not quite. Where’d you want to go on our honeymoon?”
“I’d go anywhere with you.”
