Summary: Harry asks Draco to dinner.

“Potter, I can barely read this incident report. Your writing is atrocious. Judging by this, you should’ve gone into healing.”

“Oh. Har-bloody-har, Malfoy. You think you’re so clever. I happen to be recovering from spell damage acquired in the pursuit of justice. Not everything can be a jaunt out to the park, yeah?”

“You do realise you could use a dictation spell, don’t you? Most Ministry quills come with the command already installed.”

“I wasn’t aware of that. Colour me shocked, you actually said something helpful.”

“You are far too jaded, Auror Potter. You’re well aware that I’ve changed since Hogwarts.”

“You have, quite a lot. But I find it hard to imagine that your personality has changed completely.”

“Oh no, not completely. There are some things no one can escape, no matter how they might wish to. But I like to think I’ve made a decent go of becoming a better person. You tolerate me now.”

“I’ve actually grown quite fond of you, Malfoy.”

“Don’t say that too loudly around Weasley. He’d surely think your brain had been addled from that curse.”

“As much as I love Ron, he doesn’t dictate my friendships.”

“Is that what we are now? Friends? That’s been a long time coming. I’d hoped we could be friends ever since our first year at Hogwarts.”

“Maybe if you hadn’t reminded me of my cousin from the minute we met, we might’ve been. You left rather a bad taste in my mouth at Madam Malkin’s.”

“I never did quite know how to get it right with you, did I? Sometimes I wish I had access to a Time Turner. I’d go back and do a lot of things differently.”

“Why not move forward instead? Come to dinner with me.”

“Dinner?”

“To thank you. For being so helpful. You are the one who deflected that curse. The damage could’ve been much worse.”

“Do you always speak in rhymes, or was that just a coincidence?”

“You are a pointy blond prat.”

“A hungry pointy blond prat. I think I will go to dinner with you.  You’re rather entertaining.”

“I live to amuse you, Malfoy.”

“If we’re going to dinner, call me Draco.”

“Okay…Draco.”
